Celebration's End

One of the features that has drawn most of the attention is our Profile Poll in the Forum, which has given everyone an opportunity to choose our next Character Profile entry. The character with the most votes will be revealed later today. During the time of the poll, we had closed down registrations of new accounts to prevent cheating. That restriction will be unlocked after the release so that all of you who had not yet been members can join our group and maybe even have a say next time around!

History in the Making

We’ve been asked about this feature for years but we’ve never been ready. Finally, after years of on-and-off discussion of what shape it should take, we’re pleased to release the first of our Hero Teams entries. Our first entry is on the original New Mutants.

Past Achievements

Today’s first article is another updated entry, but one long overdue. We’ve always been proud of our custom-made, signature logos here at the UXN. Omnipresent at the top of our page, no matter what section you are in, our logo represents both a means of self-expression and an artistic challenge. It’s a way to honor both what is being published now and stories long since filed away in a long box. Quite often, we’ve used them to herald an article or event published on the site. We’ve always been quite proud of our custom-made logos and today we all take a walk down memory lane of an updated UXN Logo article.

The second article of the day is new, but also long overdue. Generally, after an Event Month, we liked to create an article which summarized for posterity all of the articles released during the event. This was never actually done for our sixth Event Month, released in 2007. Correcting this oversight and presented now for your enjoyment is the summary of the Magneto Event Month.

Improvements

Today’s first article is not so much an update as a complete overhaul of an article from just last year. During our 2009-2010 Necrosha Event, we introduced an article on Selene’s group of followers. Today that short Merging Minds article is expanded into a full Villain Teams entry, along with a detailed corresponding chronology. Read today the article on Selene’s Inner Circle.

Additionally, eagle eyed readers will notice that four of the members featured in that group became the site’s first Character Profiles. The one left over, the fifth member in her cabinet, has been expanded into a full Spotlight On… entry for Wither.

Labor of Love

So, we made a big deal last Saturday about the site being a decade old. If so, that brings to mind the question: how did we get here? Today's first article, an update of the UXN Timeline article, answers that question quite nicely.

For our second article, we have another update. It's interesting what type of article or feature captures the imagination of our audience. Though from its inception, it was a wholly unique one both in concept and format, the Relationship Map garnered much attention from both our regular visitors and from other comic-related websites, which reviewed and linked to our article. Todays release see's the third update to the article, filled not only with corrections of omissions, but also with newly established relationships. After all, when not fighting for survival, Marvel's mutants like very much a night on the town.

The Unusual Suspects - UPDATE

UPDATE: As we have started revealing who the characters are, the contest is now closed. The winner of the contest was the fastest of four people to correctly identify 7 out of 8 silhouettes. They will be notified shortly.
