PROLOGUE
The sound of the gong brought Jessan Hoan’s attention from her own thoughts
back to the spectacle before her. It had been years since the last Bloodsport
tournament. That was still when her predecessor, the mercenary Viper, ruled the
island of Madripoor. After that tournament had ended disastrously, the
tradition of the Bloodsport had been quietly put away. Even without an
organized exhibition, however, violence continued unabated on the infamous den
of thieves, assassins and outlaws.
The man in the mask stood up to speak the assembled fighters in the banquet
hall. The intricate mask and sorcerer’s robe he wore seemed straight out of a
Chinese opera. “Mr. Han,” the invitation claimed he was called.
“Greetings, great warriors,” proclaimed Mr. Han. “And welcome to this year’s
Bloodsport tournament!”
A man in a red and black spandex costume leaned into whisper something to her.
“Hey beautiful. Wade Wilson. But they like to call me-“
“Good for you,” she answered abruptly. Truth be told, the tournament itself was
of little interest to her. Her invitation had insinuated that winning could
restore her as ruler of the tiny principality, but she was more interested in
the motives of the mysterious Mr. Han for reviving the Bloodsport.
Her gaze crossed the fighters, who watched Mr. Han’s long speech about the
honor of the tournament and the glory that was to be had with varying degrees
of concern. Her old friend Patch gave her a curt nod, but he wasn’t the one she
was looking for. Three other X-Men had also come to participate: one she
thought was called Psylocke, the ex-criminal Gambit, and a younger girl whose
name escaped her at the moment. There were others too: the man in red and black
who tried to make a pass at her, the Taskmaster, two who appeared to be not of
this planet, the legendary Iron Fist and a larger man standing near him, a
woman in red whose expression seemed perpetually unreadable, an Asian woman, a
larger Caucasian man with bottle-cap lenses on his eyes, and another young
girl.
But where was the man she came to meet?
Mr. Han was wrapping up his introduction. “You have traveled from far and wide
to compete for the honor of becoming the new Bloodsport champion. For now, it
is time to eat, drink, laugh, and enjoy the rest of the night. But tomorrow,
you will face your friends, foes, and strangers alike in lethal combat.”
“Oh, come on!” exclaimed the voice of Wade Wilson. “Lethal? What, are you
afraid the copyright police will come after you?”
The gong sounded again, and lion dancers came into the hall to the sound of
cymbals and drums to mark the beginning of the feast.
Something was wrong. Her SHIELD contact should have been one of the
participants. Jessan quietly excused herself as the rest of the fighters began
to indulge in the exotic foods and drinks before them.
===
“Shang-Chi!” Jessan yelled at the sight of her contact lying slumped over face
down in the moonlit courtyard. “Shang-Chi!”
Her stomach turned as she turned over the now limp body of the proclaimed
Master of Kung Fu. The moonlight reflected off a pool of blood where Shang-Chi
had been lying before, and the martial artist turned espionage agent’s guts
poured out of his insides. The body still appeared to be warm, meaning that the
killer couldn’t be far off. Without any means to get from this island back to
the main island of Madripoor, she would have to rely on the few resources she
had hear. As she turned around to find help, she was startled by another
tournament participant.
“We need to get help, the Bloodsport is a setup,” she told the other fighter
frantically.
“I know,” came the response, the last words heard by the once great Tyger
Tiger.
==
Deadpool was explaining to a disinterested and irritated Wolverine and Psylocke
how their situation was reminiscent of some martial arts film from the 80s when
the gong sounded again, repeatedly, in rapid succession.
Masked guards carried two cots into the room, one carrying what remained of the
dead body of Shang-Chi, and the other carrying that of Tyger Tyger, a bloody
hole gaping through her chest where her heart had once been.
Mr. Han appeared once again, seemingly out of nowhere. “Combatants, as you can
see two of your fellow warriors have been assassinated, violating the rules of
conduct of the Bloodsport. Out of respect for the sanctity of this tournament,
the first round will be postponed indefinitely. I will not allow anyone to
leave this island until this traitorous assassin is found!”
Wolverine turned to his teammates. “Looks like this ain’t gonna be the fun and
good sport we were plannin’ on.”

"Postponed! Well I never! I demand to speak to your manager as this is just unacceptable. First you refuse to call this the proper combat so that I could wear my awesome costume," Deadpool railed as he held up a costume that was very similar to a character from a game of combat that could not be mentioned as it had crossed over with the competition. "and now you are keeping us from said combat!"
Waving his sword around, the mercenary fumed till he came to a stop and noticed Jubilee. "I know you teenage girls like that Twilight stuff but didn't you go a bit too far?"
'Ask her if she's Team Edward!'
'Edward is totally dreamy'
'I thought were Team Jacob?'
'Too hairy. We don't like hair.'
'Oh yeah right.'
Turning to Wolverine the merc grinned under his mask. "You totally have a vampire fetish don't you. Oooh Vampire Asian Girl fetish! Is that other one a vampire too? That one with the transformer armor! What's her name? She has that armor thing...hmm it'll come to me."
With but a moment the train of thought changed as a finger was jabbed in the direction of Strong Guy "It was him I say! What sort of name is Strong Guy!"

Taskmaster couldn't help but feel irked at how some selfish killer had interfered with his own plan: to watch the fighting displays of some of the world's best martial artists, memorise them them, and add them to his own repertoire. Such was the gift of an eidetic memory.
Of course there were other motivating factors; interacting with the girl Finesse for starters. Given the fact there was a strong possibility the girl was his daughter, when heard the girl had been invited, he grabbed the next plane to Madripoor.
It would have taken someone with a lot of skill to take down Shang-Chi and Tyger Tyger. More likely, it was someone they trusted, and didn't see coming, someone like the Wolverine (no-one was fooled by that eye patch disguise).

"Well, ain't this a big ol' mess," said Gambit as he approached his fellow X-Man, Psylocke. They might be on other sides of a philosophical divide between Wolverine and Cyclops, but he still didn't entirely dislike the woman... even if she had traipsed into his mind uninvited before.
He watched the telepath, unable to read her body language. Ninjas... always so guarded.
"Can't help but think maybe this is a set-up," he whispered into her ear. "Someone like Taskmaster maybe, set this up to learn how we all fight..."
"Hmmm..." murmured Psylocke, not committing to a response.
Gambit also felt his gaze drawn towards Jubilee. He didn't want to suspect her, and he knew she'd come a long way since being made a vampire in terms of curbing her blood lust, but had she slipped? Fallen off the wagon? Always a possibility, especially with the bloody nature of these deaths...

"Postponed? Never in my long long life have been so insulted! I wield the Power Primordial! I order you to respect your elder of the universe!"
"Grrrr grmbl ooh arrr... normally I am the one hosting such events, to test my infinite fighting skills against the finest warriors from all across the galaxy, and under my command organisation was never this poorly, let me tell you that! My participants never complained, or at least not for long! The only reason why I accepted your invitation... no... the only reason why I had my contact information published in your so called "phonebooks" in the first place, is because this planet gave me some of the bravest challengers I have ever come across! But where are they now? The one called She-Hulk and the one called Thing, where are they? The She-Hulk is the bravest female I have ever seen and the only female I would consider a potential challenger to me, yet your tournament tortures me with 5 members of this inferior gender, one of them I recognize as the Celestial Madonna, who my fellow Elders respect for her role in this universe, but I only care for her warrior skills. And then there's the one throwing explosive projectiles, does this planet not understand that the only true form of combat is melee combat? Could I be bested by explosives from a distance? Would the victory be rightfully his? And then there's the prankster, doesn't he see martial arts are a serious business, the most important thing in the world, rightfully a life long's dedication rather than something to joke about?"
"While I respect that only victory in the ring is legitimate, there are other ways for me to test my opponents, to prove my superiority."
"You, Earthling, what is your name?"
"They call me Taskmaster, whataya want?"
"Not much, I merely want to demonstrate my superiority to someone while we are waiting for the tournament to get started. After all, would anyone of you primitives be capable of demonstrating such a perfect Centaurian basic stance?"
The Champion of the Universe flexes his muscles in ways no Earthling could possibly comprehend, his body bending into a shape that can't be described by terran anatomy. The basic stance of Centaurian martial artists is said to be the most difficult one in the entire galaxy, yet by billions of years of dedicated training, The Champion of the Universe mastered it perfectly.
In front of him, Taskmaster adopts an equally perfect Centaurian basic stance.

Well that was quick. Danny eyed the dead with an almost resigned acceptance. This was part of the game wasn't it? Sure the tournament had not started yet but these people wouldn't be the last to die. Danny wasn't here to kill, he would fight and win glory for K'Un Lun. But would he be able to do both?
His eyes examined the buddies as he tried to figure out who could use such brutality. Her heart was ripped out...only someone of immense strength could do that.
He looked around at the fellow combatants. Of course Wolverine was here, when wasn't Wolverine not involved. And his sidekick, Jubilee was also present. She was a vampire, wasn't she?
Karnak sat and meditated silently in his room. He was hoping that the tournament would continue, even with an assassin running around. The matches would be a perfect way to draw out the coward. There are several fighters here that the Inhuman was looking forward to competing with. Especially Danny Rand and Electra. Their fighting prowess is even known in the Tower of Wisdom.

This One was highly disturbed at the current events. After spending years in the farthest reaches of the known universe, This One was looking forward to a more straight forward martial arts competition.
Definitely a coward's way to fight and kill in secret.
The ninja present were never to be trusted. This One suspected the Red or Purple females would have easily slinked around this place.
Or perhaps the least suspecting honorable Iron Fist is playing at another game against this mysterious Mr. Han?
This One is called Mantis, and she ached for a fight.

After the rather melodramatic events of the day, Jeanne Foucault retired to her quarters. Finesse pushed aside the discomfort at having seen the Taskmaster. She convinced herself the feeling never occurred.
She mulled the currently revealed evidence over in her head. She had not acquired an adequate observation of the bodies. At this point, she was unsure as to whether Tyger Tyger had her heart cut or ripped out.
If a blade had been used, it could indicate one of the contestants more comfortable with weapons was either the culprit or being framed. Finesse recalled the few details she had witnessed before the body had been carted away.
Laura had described Tyger Tiger to her before. The famed martial artist had aided X-23 and her mentor, Gambit, in dealings with Daken and Madripoor. Perhaps her alliance with Gambit had gone awry. Then again, the mess created by the assassinations was an entirely different mess than what Gambit usually left behind.
Elektra was an obvious choice.
So many possibilities to consider. Jeanne restrained from picking up her cellular phone. A quick call to Jocasta would cleave the time taken to process and decipher the clues in half.
[Votes: Iron Fist and Deadpool]
"I'm a prisoner. I have to be a prisoner. I'm a political prisoner. I'm not going to let them turn me into a criminal."
Guido looked around the room at the combatants that surrounded the bloodshed. Inhaling deeply through his nose, he couldn't help but be enamored by the sweet smell of Jubilee. "Whoa now," he thought to himself. "Calm down partner, you've seen enough episodes of True Blood to know how those vamps like to charm the pants off the best looking guy in the room, don't fall for it Guido!"
His face turned red due to his amorous thoughts toward the young former mutant girl. "Think man, concentrate! What's the most unattractive thing here to get your mind away from hentai?!" Then he noticed Fat Cobra across the room scratching himself. "What kind of a joker would call himself Fat Cobra?" he mumbled to himself. "Sounds like a porno reject. Then again, what kind of a name is Iron Fist?"
Guido couldn't help but notice Deadpool snickering behind him, cackling about boobies and eavesdropping on his perverted monologue.

Wolverine looked around at the others as they wondered why he was dressed as Patch. He'd figured they'd recognize him. The disguise was more for the Madripoorians. Besides, he'd been in these tournaments before. Having an edge on your opponents was essential, especially when guys with superpowers were involved. The eyepatch wasn't really going to fool anyone into not knowing who he was, but... most people wouldn't think about what it really was. Wolverine tapped the patch and looked at the others with it. Most of them looked suspicious for one reason or other when viewed through the patch.
Is it really the Champion of the Universe? apparently so, but he's not the sort of guy who'd usually show up like this.
Is it the real Iron Fist and Fat Cobra? They both radiated the magic of K'un L'un.
Is it Guido? he seeemed a bit... dark somehow in the lens....
Finesse? looked like her, and acted like her. Why's she here?
Karnak, it's apaprently him, but... why?

Elektra glared at Strong Guy. The imbecile did not belong in the company of such distinguished warriors. Even with his vaunted mutant strength, he did not not stand a chance against the more disciplined competition. Her sai would slip through his folds of skin like fresh cream. However, he did possess the strength to rip a heart from the chest of the unwary. His humor was inappropriate as well.
Elektra suspected a kindred spirit within the vampire Jubilee. Both had once enjoyed the innocence of youth only to have themselves transformed by blood and death. The fledgling vampire was insufficiently trained, her new powers untested, but she too could pose a potent threat. The kunoichi wondered if her sai might substitute for a wooden stake, if the opportunity arose.

So much was going on in Jubilee's thoughts.
She'd mingled casually with the other entrants during the dinner. She tried her best to portray herself in the ditzy, jovial manner in which so many of her *friends* presumably felt more comfortable reciving her.
But she knew, as she suspected they knew, that girl was gone.
Jubilee had to snicker quietly at the irony of the position she was in - She'd left Utopia cause she was sick of all the sympathetic smiles and gentle hugs or encouragement that she would recieve from her fellow X-men, but here... here she got what she wanted, she supposed
They knew she was different and they were certainly not afraid of letting her know how they
felt about it.
Jubilee cursed Raizo.
She probably wasnt quite ready to have undertaken this mission. But the truth was, she missed some of her old friends and Razio had become quite strict when it came to her training. But when she'd heard that the tornament was in Madripoor she knew there was more of a likelyhood of some of her closer friends participating and she'd convinced Razio to let her go ( in the interests of the vampire nation)
She stared at Tyger Tyger..more specifically, she tried not to pay attention to the beatiful deep rich wine colour of her blood and more at the nature of the destructive force to the body.
She noted, awkwardly, at the clumsiness of the kill. She could think of 10 more efficient ways to end the lady's life. ..She still wasnt really okay with this.
The people who were participating in this tornament were extremely deft and skillful warriers, not really the lazy thugish type.
This looked brutal and lacked control..
She looked over at Deadpool, who was that that very moment clearly enteraining himself with some joke related to her. This had his childish, conscequence-less handprints all over it.
Her eyes drifted beyond the gaping hole in the ladys chest cavity and came upon the
slowly growing pool of blood.
She bit down on her lip a little.
... Just take a little lick, .... you've got the speed, ...no one would notice...
.. ubile...... Hell...o
It's not really falling off the wagon, she's dead..it's only going to dry up and be lost
forever
Jub ...lee.... Helllo *Snap*
Jubilee shooked her head and looked to the source of what had broken her from her struggle.
"Jubilee, are you alright?" asked a concerned Pyslocke.
"Oh, Hey.. Yeah, Betsy, Yeah.. Im good...." relplied Jubille bruising a bit of her hair out of
her face " How are you?"
"All things considered, better than her" replied Psylocke, motioning down to the victim
"Ha, yeah "
"Im surprised, you're not off sharpening your stake as well? " said Jubille, offering a toothy
mocking smile.
"Well, as I recall, a young girl once went against her better judgement and trusted me in
circumstances that would have made that a little challenging" said Psylocke, putting a hand
on her shoulder " that girl remains to this day, I believe.. My friend"
"Plus I know you've been working hard with the Forgiven to curb your *darker* impulses" she concluded.
"C'mon.. I think Wolverine would be much happier knowing you were somewhere where
he could keep an eye on you" said Psylocke as she ushered Jubilee away from the body
"there are some pretty dangerous invidiuals amongst us"
"Like the Taskmaster right.. he looks like a total douche" replied Jubilee in a more lifted
fashion
"Uh.. right" replied Betsy, smiling to herself as she followed the young vampire

Psylocke was happy that Jubilee seemed calmed by her words. In truth, the girl's situation still troubled her - at times, it was hard to reconcile the creature of the night that Lee had become, with the carefree, spirited child that Betsy had once known.
But the sympathy and warmth she felt towards her was entirely genuine - after all, Betsy had been switched from one body to the other, and had to learn to control and contain new feelings, skills, and desires.
Those same skills that brought her here, today.
They weren't so different, herself and Jubilee.
Strong Guy seemed an odd fit here, Betsy thought. She knew that he had been a bodyguard, and so had always seen his skills more in terms of brute strength, than as a martial artist.
And Taskmaster - Betsy hadn't always walked completely on the side of angels, but she'd always strived to be a hero, and a good person. This one, she remember from seeing him fight the Avengers. She was all for people turning a new leaf, but wouldn't his ability to mimic others make him an exceptionally tricky killer to catch?
"Whut di ye mean, Tha bar es shutt? A wan a whesky, an a wan et noo!" Moira MacTaggert, Excalibur V1 91
"Anyone got any good jokes?" Deadpool asked, breaking the awkward silence that had taken hold after the fighters-turned-murder suspects had finished eating a considerably less lavish meal consisting of a soup with noodles, char siu and Chinese celery. The Merc with a Mouth let out a loud belch that echoed throughout the dining chamber.
Wolverine, smoking a cigar, merely stared down Wade, eying him suspiciously.
Deadpool shrugged at his teammate. "What, you think I ruined this Mortal Street Fighting Championship? It's been a good year for me, especially considering that piece of crap Gavin Hood movie. No way I'd risk all that!"
A steel sai flew into the wall just beside Wade's head.
"Will you shut up already?" came the voice of the crimson-clad ninja Elektra, twirling her other sai around threateningly and looking unamused at her would-be victim.
"Geezus, lady," came the reply as Deadpool moved away from the spot he had been standing at, "have we been introduced?"
Elektra grasped her other sai firmly in one hand and marched toward her prey like a lioness on the prowl, as Deadpool retrieved one of his swords from where it rested on his back and exclaimed, "Round One: FIGHT!"
The masked man Mr. Han appeared between the two warriors to stop the impending battle between them. "The tournament has not yet begun, my friends," came the muffled voice behind the mask, carrying a hint of amusement. "There will be time to test your might soon enough."
A hungry-looking Jubilee had started to approach the scene of the fray with a crazed interest, held back by her friends Gambit and Strong Guy. The Iron Fist, Danny Rand, took Elektra aside to calm her down with some form of meditation, and Deadpool walked away, babbling on to no one in particular about how this summer had already had one bad guy in a mask that no one could understand.
Karnak, who had been observing the incident with faint interest, turned to the Champion of the Universe. "Humans."
While the Fat Cobra, true to his namesake, stuffed his face with whatever was leftover on the plates of his comrades, Wolverine sniffed the air, his senses alert. "Anyone seen the Taskmaster?"
"This one has not seen the copycat since before the last meal," Mantis replied in her peculiar way of speaking.
Logan made eye contact with Psylocke, who nodded. As the two X-Men turned around to leave the banquet hall and search for the missing mercenary, a girl came up behind them.
"You want an autograph?" Logan said gruffly to the girl. A name came to mind. Finesse. One of Laura's teammates at that Avengers school.
"I..." Finesse fumbled, as Wolverine narrowed his eyes in annoyance at her. "I just need some fresh air."
Logan turned around without acknowledging the girl further, as the three left the chamber. It wasn't long before Logan could smell the stench of the Taskmaster's dead body in an abandoned armory.
Tony Masters lay limp on the ground, evidently beaten to death, with his eyes gouged out. Finesse leaned over into a vase to throw up uncontrollably at the sight.

"Such a shame, it was an aesthetically pleasing vase," Finesse thought as she leaned back up and wiped a bit of vomit from her chin.
She looked toward Patch and Psylocke, who were staring at her worriedly. "I don't know what came over me. A little blood is usually no bother," she assured them.
Patch sniffed around the corpse. The corpse of the man who might have been her father. She'd never know now.
"I suppose we should inform the others?" she asked the two senior heroes.
"You would suppose correctly, young woman," the Asian announced in a hollow British accent.
Finesse was suddenly struck by a thought.
"Is our murderer gathering organs?"
Both Patch and Betsy looked upon her with surprise.
"Eyes," Finesse muttered to herself. "Windows to the soul."
"Perhaps someone felt they gave him an unfair advantage," Betsy wondered aloud.
"Or perhaps somebody with no skill of their own wished to take all that he had acquired," Finesse mused. She rubbed her temple. She would have to double her guard. With her ability being so similar to Taskmaster's, she could easily be the next target.

Remy had followed Finesse, Psylocke and 'Patch' to the scene of Taskmaster's murder. He watched silently from the shadows as the young girl vomited in the vase.
Funny, he thought. From what Laura told me about Finesse, she don't seem the kind to lose her lunch over a corpse... then again, same ability... Maybe she's a little Taskmistress, n'est pas?
He heard Finesse's comment about the eyes, watching Psylocke closely. Finesse couldn't have known that Betsy had once had her eyes removed-- granted, in another body and a long time ago, but could it be that she was starting to seek revenge now? Slaymaster to Taskmaster?
Remy stealthily hauled himself up to the rafters of the room, waiting until Psylocke, Logan and Finesse left the room with the body of Taskmaster. Interesting that Logan didn't think it was important to preserve the scene he thought to himself, as he prepared to deal with the young woman entering the room behind him.
He waited until Jubilee was under the rafter he was perched upon before dropping to the ground behind her, sweeping her legs from underneath her, and pinning her to the floor by applying pressure to the back of her neck with his bo staff.
"Got a ways to go before you're as sneaky as me, petite," he said, trying to force some of his usual smarm into his tone, to mask his distrust of his former team mate. Dieu, she used to be de only innocent one left among us, an' now look at her... he thought to himself.
"Get off, Gumbo," she snarled. "I came to see if I could get a scent at the scene of the murder."
"Bit late for that," he said, increasing the pressure on her neck. Superhumanly strong or not, he had managed to hit a nerve cluster that would cause her intense pain should she try to move... and more importantly, all it would take is one kinetically-charged shove to sever the young vampire's head from her body. "Too many people been through here. Too many scents contaminating de scene. S'why Betsy, Logan an' Finesse took de body away. Not enough evidence round here."
"Great," spat Jubilee. "Let me up."
Gambit paused for a moment before releasing the pressure from Jubilee's neck. In an instant, she pushed herself off the ground, and drove Gambit towards a wall, pinning him with her forearm at his throat.
"I'm not a kid anymore, Remy," she hissed, her fangs descending.
"Dat's why de kid gloves are off, petite," he said with a smile. Jubilee glanced downwards, to see that Gambit was holding a wooden stake just over her heart. She glared at him.
"I find out it's you pullin' this crap?" began Gambit as she released her hold on his throat. "You'll fit in a dust-buster quicker than you'd know. D'accord?"
"Likewise," snarled Jubilee. "It might cost me a few points with Raizo, but whoever's doing this is going to lose a few pints of the red stuff if I have my way."
"We have a truce, petite?" he asked her.
"Maybe," she replied, turning her back on him. "You can stop calling me petite now. It's not as if I'll ever grow any more than this, so I don't need it pointing out that I'm short."
He watched as Jubilee approached the spot where Taskmaster had been slain. People had tried telling him that the girl might have lost her soul when she was turned, but if anything, Gambit recognised almost a kinship within her. He knew what it was like to feel like you were fighting for your soul, and if her fight was anything like his had been, she'd have a long way to go. He hoped she was strong enough to pull through... unlike Guido, who was utterly soulless now.

This One sat bored at the dining table; her arms folded. The Creole mutant one had promised a special game, since the martial arts competition was still postponed.
He had left for a moment, promising to return with other game players. This One was really in the mood for anything other than sitting, but the chance at any game kept her there.
The little Vampire had slunk away not too long after him, This One wondered if perhaps she too would play the game. She also wondered if the Champion of K'un L'un would also be interested. She approached.
"This one is Mantis and would like to invite you to a game. The mutant calls it Strip Poker. It intrigues her to know if you too wished to play."

Karnak, who had been observing the incident with faint interest, turned to the Champion of the Universe. "Humans."
The Champion of the Universe didn't register the words spoken by the
short Inhuman. The Champion of the Universe was in a state of shock. The
one man who scant moments before had demonstrated a perfect Centaurian
basic stance, the hardest basic stance in the
universe, that very man was the third martial artist to fall. The
Champion of the Universe had not cared about those called Shang-Chi or
Tyger Tiger, they were big unknowns to him. But this Taskmaster... This
planet, that had produced the tireless Thing and
the admirable She-Hulk, this planet had amazed The Champion of the
Universe once again through this Taskmaster who could effortlessly reproduce
the basic stance that The Champion of the Universe demonstrated to
impress him... and now this planet amazed him once more in quick succession
because somehow, in some way, between these seemingly meaningless
combatants, someone has been capable of murdering this formidable
Taskmaster...
In The Champion of the Universe's mind, there was but 1 explaination for this. It cannot be that among this motley crew there are 2 individuals that he underestimated. He has underestimated individuals in the past, this Taskmaster included, but never twice on one day. The Champion of the Universe mutters to himself the only possible conclusion.
"I... I have killed the Taskmaster.
"Yes, yes, I am the only one with the powers, the skills, but, but, how? I'm a man of honor! My only fight is in the ring, and even there dead isn't a necessity! What could have happened?!... Yes, YES! Telepathy! Yes, with my cosmic awareness I can see that the purple and the green witch are telepaths, one of them must have realized I am the only one strong enough to fulfil their agenda, how very very cunning, how very very dishonorable. There she is, the green witch, chatting with that fake Frenchman, I will tell her what I think of this, I will...
"What, Strip Poker?! I often play that game with the Grandmaster! Hell yeah I'll join!"
Karnak, although appearing completely calm, was growing restless. He left his fellow Inhumans to participate and win this tournament. Karnak was hoping to prove that super powers are not neccasary to be super. He wanted to prove this not only to the Inhumans, but also to Quicksilver and his fellow former mutants.
At least now it appears as though a very different competition is starting. Karnak decides he would like to join Gambits game. Karnak knows he can defeat his exploit his opponents physical weakness's. However it will be a true test to exploit there mental weakness's as well.

Jubilee noticed her former allies had all taken leave and she decided to
make chase.
She realized she probably was too old for this sort of game but, damn,
it was becoming so easy for her.
She tailed in absolute silence, pausing every now and then to listen for
a trace of their
movements.
She sniffed the air...
Smoke Logan ....she smiled to herself.
A flowery scent, maybe Jasmine Betsy
Sweat and bile Finesse..
Jubilee rolled her eyes
And then a truely indiscernible yet alluring Musk Remy
She'd picked up the nameGuido being discussed and then head
movement that indicated that some of her prey were on the move.
Instinctively, as three of the four
individuals she was tracking came back along her path, she made use of one of
her new abilities and became smoke.
For a second she wondered if she'd be made by
Wolverine, but he seemed to pause for a split secondlook towards Betsy and the young girl and
then continued on his way.
As Jubilee rematerialized she let out an
almost inaudible 'phew'.
She walked carefully out from around the
passage and came across the body of the Taskmaster.
Where was Remy? she wondered before
making a b-line towards the corpse.
"Well Remy, Ta Da.. This thing is
totally corrupted, there's about 3-4 different scents all over it. Happy, you
were right" replied Jubilee as Gambit looked pensively over her.
"Guess I should go be a good little
Undead and lock myself up in my coffin now. Thanks for the reminder" she
announced sharply as she pushed her way past him.
She stormed down a corridor and took a flight
of stairs. Whilst walking she mused over her confrontation with Gambit.
Did that look Strong? Dangerous even.. Good....That's good.
She eyed a bathroom and threw the door open.
She quickly scanned the room for other occupants. She was alone.
She leant against the Vanity.
And started to sob.
She didn't know what she was truely upset
about. She'd reacted to gambit out of embarrassment initially .He'd caught her
being childish and wounded her pride. What had deeply upset her more however
was the viciousness (that she swore was not truely her own) that had come
lurching out of her when he had attacked her.
..And there was also the fact that Remy, one
of her favorite people in the world had truely been given cause to place a
stake to her heart.
She tried to steal herself. This was her life
now.
Was she naive enough to really believe that
she could have her feet in both worlds. And if not, in which would she
ultimately have to dwell.
Before she could come up with a response to
that daunting question, the door to the bathroom was pressed open.
It was Deadpool
"Get clear.. this is not gonna be
pretty!!!" he barked as he sped past unbuckling his belt.
She hissed back at him and turned to smoke
and dispersed through the ventilation above.

Elektra decided to play a game of her own. Deftly shifting her sai from one hand to the other and then twirling it in the air, Elektra imagined the best way to eliminate each of the strip poker players. The fools played the game of licentious adolescents as warriors with far greater prowess were felled by some unseen stalker. She did not wish to see a naked Champion of the Universe and walked alone to examine the body.
Taskmaster had mimicked Elektra's martial arts mastery, he was no easy prey. Seeing the skilled man dead, his eyes ripped from his head, even the cold-hearted assassin felt a twinge of fear. Elektra's presence was unnoticed by those who examined the body except perhaps Wolverine, who looked more concerned with other matters. Elektra found the behavior of Finesse strange but her suggestion that the murderer might be collecting organs sounded intriguing. Perhaps the girl saw more than she let on.
Wolverine put his hand on Finesse's shoulder gently. "It's okay to be upset that someone died. I may not have agreed with Taskmaster or even liked him, but I didn't want to see him die either." He said in what he hoped was a reassuring voice. "Although, now that you mention it.... All three of them might be missin' somethin'. Taskmaster's eyes were taken. Tyger's heart was cut out. The way Shang-Chi's guts were cut open some of them might be missin' too." `Patch` stopped for a minute and frowned. "I really have to wonder why someone would do that. If we figure that out we'll be halfway to figuring out who it is."
"I wonder why Jube's hiding like that?" Wolverine mused to himself as he followed the trail of dust she left behind as she moved. "Then again", Wolverine said as he looked back towards Finesse and Psylocke. "It could be Wade, he's crazy enough to do ANYthing..."
