Topic: Classic Marvel and DC Figurine Collection Posted: 20-Apr-2007 at 3:43pm |
http://www.marvel-figurines.co.uk/index.html
I have stuck in there with this collection, not a cheap luxury but the quality of the models is excellent. We are on issue #45-ish and I have most of the X Men now. Shadowcat and Lockheed should be here at the end of the month and Emma Frost next month. Polaris and Professor X will be sometime during the summer along with the Apocalypse special.
Anyone else collecting this out there? I have actually learnt a lot about the other Marvel characters such as Doctor Strange and most of the Avengers.
They plan on doing 20 more at the end of this run, which should include Psylocke, Havok, Cable and Deadpool. Even Banshee is a possibility although the final figures havent been confirmed.

I got the first two, and then the captain britain one, but i found i knew everything in the magazine and for the rpice, i thought the figures were of quite poor quality.

I'm pleased with the Red Skull figurine and his tongue in cheek book. Magneto should be in soon.
It's taking them way too long to post images of their next set.
I'm very happy these finally got exported stateside so we can get lead poisoning like the rest of the civilized world.

We just started getting them in New Zealand. I only plan on getting my favourite X-Men like Rogue and Psylocke.

Lizard and Nick Fury are disappointing but Polaris and Scarlet Witch look good.
Next wave is Deadpool, Mysterio, Yellowjacket & Wasp, Luke Cage, and Super-Skrull!

They changed the line up again I see. Professor X was supposed to be somewhere near the end of this run, oh well maybe he will be in the next bunch.

He'll probablly be a special since they'd need extra lead to make his hoverwheelchair.

Gotta disagree a bit - I think Lizard's figurine looks quite cool, and I'm not keen on Polaris (but then again, I've never been keen on the green costume!). But I'm with you on the dodgy Fury figure (shame, 'cause I imagine the issue will be a good read), and the fantastic Scarlet Witch one.
Is anyone picking up the Captain Marvel white varient? That looks pretty bland... I'd have much prefered a Mar-Vell varient, but I guess that would've meant a re-sculpt.

I believe it's something like 2 dollars to the pound at the moment. It's very unfavourable to American consumers buying things in sterling from the UK. You might be better off seeing if any comic stores near you if they're importing them in and paying for them in dollars.

The retail for about $12.50 US. It was printed on the magazines before they were even cleared for importation.
I don't like the Lizard because he's not wearing his black shirt yet his exposed chest isn't scaly, so either the paint or sculpt should've been better.
Nova would be better with some metallic paint too.

So that'd be about £6.25 - hmm, you're certainly better buying it from a retailer than getting it shipped yourself by paying in sterling. It'd cost way more than 25p to get it over to you.

Dr. Doom's head is really tiny.
Does anyone recommend me getting Venom and or She-Hulk?

I've bought two. She-Hulk and Dr. Octopus. I really want the X-Men ones especially Storm and Beast, but I haven't found many around anywhere. My comic book store only has a handful. Does anyone have the complete list of who's been released?

I've got Magneto right now Scarlet Witch and Phoenix are on their way. After that I'll get as many X-men as I can along with the Fantastic Four and I can't wait for the Apocalypse and Galactus specials

The complete list is available at the link in post 1.
I'm glad i purchased She-Hulk and Venom.
My favorite is Magneto. He looks great on his own or next to his Bowen bust.
I'm disappointed with how Dr. Doom's proportions got messed up in the final product but his magazine is hilarious (typos aside).
Does anybody else get really impatient waiting for the site to upload photos of the next batch?
I'd really like lead figures of Jubilee, Mojo, Spiral, Apocalypse, Wendigo, and Mr. Sinister.

A Sinster sculp and magazine would be pretty awesome. I'm suprised there hasn't been a Spider Woman figurine as of yet, I guess that'll be in the extended list of 20, and I could imagine Quicksilver getting featured as well.

What's taking so long for the next batch?
Why don't they credit the sculptors in the magazines?
Why is Apocalypse in Previews but not their site?

Deadpool looks the business...Cage, however, looks very camp! Wish they'd gone with his modern look, rather than Disco Luke. I'm liking the look of Yellowjacket and Wasp, Pym actually looks rather heroic in that pose.
So we know some of the newer ones are, including Spiderwoman, as predicted by moi! Dormammu seems a strange choice, but I guess they do need more villains, and the Black Bolt mag should be a very good read.

The above link shows some of the upcoming figures. The collection has been expanded and will include Spider woman, Electro and Quicksilver as well as Havok, Psylocke, Prof X and Cable, plus more.
The will also be a very special issue of Galactus with a 15cm model which can be seen in the above website. There is also a Apocalypse special out in the next few months and maybe a Mr Sinister.

I love this series.
So far all I collect are the X-Men figures and I just picked up Nightcrawler, Phoenix and Storm last night. I have to travel to another store a few hours away to get these but it's well worth it. Nightcrawler is boss, Phoenix has an awesome pose, and I'm not crazy about Storm and she won't stand because her foot is coming off the base. A little superglue should fix that right up.
But so far I have Gambit, Magneto, Wolverine, Iceman, Angel, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Phoenix and Storm. They had Colossus and Juggernaut specials at the store yesterday but I had to buy the hardcover for Supernovas, so I'll get them next time.

Got Polaris came today. She is one of the best figurines so far, she has a proper pose and the painters are getting better with each model. Looking forward to the Scarlet Witch, Deadpool and Cable soon, with the Apocalypse special out later in September.

I just got Polaris today too, i have too agree, she is one of the best so far but no one can top Kitty and Lockheed in my opinion.
I was wondering if anyone had any more infor on the cover artist for the Polaris issue. The artist is listed as Bagwell but when i googled that i got some Playboy thing and some baseball player.
