Topic: The Marvel Lanterns Posted: 12-May-2011 at 11:33am |

Who from Marvel's vast collection of characters would best suit each of DC's Lantern Corps. For those that aren' t familiar, DC has 7 different Lantern Corps, each a different colour representing a different emotion.
Red - Rage Orange - Avarice (Greed) Yellow - Fear Green - Will Blue - Hope Indigo - Compassion Violet - Love
Red - Rage: Hulk - He's got the most anger of anyone in the Marvel universe.
Orange - Avarice: Normon Osborn - This was a tough one, Kingpin, The Hood, alot of supercriminals really, would fit under here. But Osborn is greedy for power moreso that wealth, and that makes him stand out.
Yellow - Fear: Sabertooth - Sadistic, powerful, evil. this guys strikes fear into nearly all who face him.
Green - Will: Captain America - I justsee Cap as having the most determination in the Marvel Universe. Plus I love the thought of seeing him weilding a green energy versionof his iconic shield, with a Green Lantern Symbol instead of the star.
Blue - Hope: Professor X - I coulda been a smartass and said Hope Summers lol. Xavier has always been full of hope for the future of mankind.
Indigo - Compassion: Silver Surfer - this may be a surprising one to some, but being an alien who gets involved with other races problems has always stuck me as compassionate. The latest issue of Annihilators, where he showed compassion for the Wraith Queen and actually lead the team to save Wraithworld emphasizes this.
Violet - Love: Invisible Woman - She fight on a team surrounded by her family and friends. She's surrounded by love.

Hmmm...I don't want say ones you already said so I'll try and build on your Corps...
Red- X-23, she tries to hard to hold it back but you see it in her.
Orange-Iron Man...Iron Man is greedy but always for the greater good. It would be interesting to see the Marvel U version of Lex Luthor as one.
Yellow-Moon Knight...hey if Batman could get one, why not this crazy guy...
Green-Hmmm I'm biased but I'd say Cyclops and Storm both could handle this one. They have always been strong willed to me. Plus their unique origins kinda place them on a path where they had to overcome fear. But I think the quintessential GL would be Spider-Man. Matter of fact, in some ways I could see him wielding nearly every ring...
Blue- Mr. Fantastic...as a man of science he always has hope for the future..
Indigo- Silver Surfer is the only person I could think of too...
Violet-hmmm....I can't think of anyone LOL

I think you're on to something with Iron Man being Orange.
Compassion and Love are tougher ones true.

Wolverine would make a good yellow lantern. He's scary as hell and it matches his costume.
Daredevil is a "Man without fear" (like Hal Jordan) he'd have to have a green lantern ring, though I believe there's already been a blind lantern.
I think while Cap certainly qualifies for a green ring, he could definitely wield a blue ring, he is a huge symbol of hope. Could dual wear like Hal Jordan.

I think the Thing would qualify for a Violet Ring of Love. Same reasons as the Invisible Woman really; he loves his family very much. lol Could you imagine him in a Star Sapphire costume though?

I'd love to see Doom get his hands on a green power ring. Though he might be infuriated with it's inability to kill.

Red - Rage: The Hulk is the obvious choice, allthough Namor could be a good second as could Wolverine. On the villain side, this is most certainly Red Skull. Orange - Avarice (Greed): Again, Iron Man is the obvious choice for the heroes, and I say The Hood for villains. Yellow - Fear: This is either Daredevil or Moon Knight. Elektra would be a nice outside choice. The only truely fearsome villain in the MU is Thanos. Green - Will: This is Doom, no question. I could see people like Xavier or Jean do it, or even Rogue, Magneto or Kitty, but Doom's will is supreme. Blue - Hope: Captain America, no other choice. Indigo - Compassion: f**k the Silver Surfer!!! This guy was so compassionate that he was willing to slaughter BILLIONS so his girlfriend could live? He's bloody Darth Vader, that's what he is! I'd say that the ring for compassion should go to Spiderman, and no villain could take it. Violet - Love: Psylocke!! Oh wait, that's sex... I pretty much agree with Sue Richards getting it, allthough I can understand Hawkeye, Thing or Storm taking this.
FUN!!!!!

Doom, wolverine, Captain America and spidey are the only characters I think could wield most,if not all rings.

Violet would have to be Enchantress if it's to do with love.

Yeah but people can change. I mean these days he would sacrifice his life for a world, while still feeling compassionate enough about Galactus to help him feed. The ring goes to to a person for what they are now, not what they once were. Lol could you imagine? So...... Surfer can be an accomplice to mass-murder for untold years(Galactus is a force of nature, Surfer isn't), then change his colors for a few years and be judged by that?

Norrin helps Galactus to limit the damage Galactus does. Sure people die anyways, but the important part is that LESS people die.
Moving on:
Red: Meak the unhived. I mean really, the guy destroyed Sakaar, and took over the savage land because he was pissed about his queen dying.
Orange: Reed Richards, who else is willing to bend the universe to his whims just to figure something out? The guy is motivated by 2 things; love of his family, and a deep seated need to know everything about everything. Sure it's not a materialistic sort of greed, but Reed wants to know everything there is to know about everything.
Yellow: Mr. Sinister, the guy just oozes Fear.
Green: Magneto, the guy's ability to focus on a task should be considered a super power.
Blue: Forge, he never gives up Hope no matter how impossible his goals may seem.
Indigo: Doug Ramsey, he can read people like a book to know what they're feeling, but he can never seem to figure out why.... And not understanding other's emotions is the main requirement for being a member of the Indigo Tribe. (yeah it's a LACK of compassion required.)
Violet: Yeah, Amora.

But the same rules that apply to the other Lanterns should applyto Compassion too. I mean the nicest sweetest old lady in the world wouldn't get a Red ring, but if her family was killed by gang bangers she might be filled with enough rage to get a red ring, then BAM, Red Lantern. Wolverine, back when he was a little boy couldn't instill great fear, and would have no chance of getting a Yellow ring, but as an adult he surely could. So why is it that someone who now has great compassion, but never used, not elible for an indigo ring?

I'm surprised no one has said Ghost Rider for Yellow. Striking fear into villains is what he is all about.
Also I think Punisher could be a wielder of Green.

Not so sure about Punisher being a Green Lantern. I mean, not even Superman has received a green ring.
Good call on Ghost Rider for fear though. Anyone with a fear inducing power would be a good candidate really. Trauma, Mr Fear, Dani Moonstar when she had powers...umm...I'm struggling to think of anyone else

I think Loki would be a good candidate for greed. Greed for power, that is. Possibly Dr. Doom as well.
I've always had a soft spot for Colossus - not sure whether I would give him compassion or love.
Besides the other people already mentioned, I think Storm would be a good candidate for will.
I thought about Galactus for fear, but it seems he inspires more awe than real fear.

Well, didn't they show that Supes has the potential, he just never got chosen?
anyways, Punisher should be RED. His life is much like that of Atrocitus. Both have a single minded devotion to killing caused by an intense personal tragedy. In Castle's case it was his wife and kids dying, in Atrocitus's case it was his PLANET geting wiped out by the Manhunter robots.
Loki is totally perfect for Greed/Orange.
Oooh... Ghost Rider! He'd be almost unstoppable as a member of the Sinestro Corps. Slight problem.... being a member means Sinestro can kick you out if you don't do what he tells you. Yeah, Sinestro put a failsafe into the rings to ensure that the Corps would always be HIS.
Yeah, Storm would work well for Will/green.

Quite true. Regular criminals would almost pee their pants simply hearing that Castle was after them.

Doesn't Sage have an "indomitable will"? Sounds like a dead ringer (no pun intended) for a Green Lantern for me. But for a more interesting turn, I'd love to see Magneto or Doom get their hands on a Green power ring if they do another Marvel/DC crossover event in the future.
Is it just me, or does the current Fear Itself event and the hammers involved kind of scream "Lantern Corps"?

Yeah Sage would work.
Hmm... *ponders Avvy*
I think Spiral would fit Orange best.
Not so sure about Fear itself. there are some major differences.

An interesting one I didn't consider for Greed in The Collector. He's like a mad Pokemon fan on steroids, Gotta catch em all.

Red - Rage - Hulk is probably the best choice. Completely ruled by his rage.
Orange - Avarice (Greed) - Dr. Doom who wants it all for himself. But the Orange/Green color scheme wouldn't exactly be pretty.
Yellow - Fear - The Punisher, not really a whole lot of explanation needed. The yellow would make it a little harder for him to sneak around at night, but hey, it worked for Wolverine.
Green - Will - Storm as she has defeated many a foe with her sheer will. At least back in her CC days.
Blue - Hope - Chalres Xavier, an optimist who still holds on to his dream, his hope for the future.
Indigo - Compassion - This one is really hard. I think I'm going to go with Crystal of the Inhumans. Her recent compassion for the Kree people united them in their recent efforts against the Shi'ar.
Violet - Love - Thanos. The color scheme already works for him, and he's destroyed half the universe for love before. She was Death after all. No one said it had to be a healthy love.

Thanos better be wearing the reulation uniform of the Star Sapphire Corps.
Daredevil should be a GL because he wouldn't be able to tell his costume clashes. Since he wasn't always blind, he'd be a much better GL than Rot Lop Fan. If Rot Lop Fan has never seen anything, how is he suited to a team whose weapons are light based? The F-Sharp Bell Corps should be completely independent of the GLC. Stupid Alan Moore!

Going with purelythe main X-Men, I will say:
Red - Wolverine : For all the reasons given
Orange - Emma Frost : She has always been driven by a need for more
Yellow - Magneto : Even as a hero, he still instills great fear in others
Green - Cyclops : Through willpower he leads a nation of powerful mutants
Blue - Professor X : The shining beacon of hope
Indigo - Colossus : A poet at heart he seems to have more compassion then most other heroes
Violet - Storm : She is filled with love, for her people, her friends, her environment

I've got a theory, It could be Bunnies - Anya (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
