Forge's mutant power allows him to intuitively understand mechanical systems, operate any machine on sight, and repair any glitches or damage in the design. The primary use of his power, though, is invention -- the ability to conceive new forms of technology and build them at an incredible pace using whatever materials are available. Below is a list of inventions Forge has come up with.

Uncanny X-Men (1st series) #184
  • Eagle Plaza - The building itself was Forge's design, and the top 10 floors his personal space, the top five being his penthouse. Its environment replication systems include not only holograms, but also audio enhancements, wind and temperature controls, even filtered scents to simulate any environment.
  • Scanalyzer - A basic hand-held device capable of locating and identifying beings who were not baseline human. It could recognize mutants as well as different kinds of aliens such as Kree, Skrull, or Dire Wraiths. It was limited by range, however, and could apparently only scan beings within an immediate personal radius.
  • The Neutralizer - Created based on descriptions of the Galadorian Neutralizer used by Rom the Spaceknight, this hand-held weapon neutralizes super-powered abilities in any being. The effect is semi-permanent, remaining in effect indefinitely unless some outside force reverses it. So far, only Elixir's organic manipulation and Forge himself have done so.

  • Forge's private jet - Presumably, it was of his own design, but no in-depth detail was given for it. At the very least, it seemed capable of supersonic flight and Vertical Take-Off and Landing maneuvers.

  • Rocket pods - Based on Rom's own cybernetic armor, this backpack enabled Forge to fly.
  • Neo-Neutralizer
  • Flight chair - Used during space-walk, the chair employed pressurized nitrogen gas and retro-rockets to help Forge maneuver about in vacuum. It could also release an electrical charge as a defensive measure.
  • A wrist-mounted version of his previous Scanalyzer. - Forge set the device to warn him of the presence of Dire Wraiths in the vicinity.

  • Solar power - On a world completely untouched by man or technology, Forge was able to create a series of solar panels for electricity using only natural resources and the limited circuitry in his bionic leg.
  • Un-Neutralizer - Forge's leg circuitry was also cannibalized into create a device to reverse the neutralizing effect on Storm's power. The limited resources available meant the gun only had enough charge for one shot.

  • Sniper rifle - Constructed before going into battle with the Reavers, this gun included a telescopic sighting mechanism for hitting targets long-range, and produced enough of explosive force to blow Skullbuster in two. As an added bonus, the rifle scrambled electronic systems with its blast, further damaged the Reaver's cybernetic components.

  • Muir Isle's security system - Forge upgraded the island with a defense net after the Reavers' assault.

  • Sight-blind helmets - Head-gear that interprets non-visual information to help the wearer navigate in total darkness.

  • Hand cannon - Equipped with a targeting lens, Forge used this personal firearm to fire standard ammunition rounds, stun grenades, and flash-bulb grenades.
  • Multi-purpose medical tool - Forge employed a palm-sized device which could take cell samples from people. Forge also used it to discreetly inject tracer-tags into Jean and Banshee's bloodstreams, emitting a broadcast signal which he could follow using a wrist-mounted scanner. Although he claimed the device was able to scan for anomalies and inject broad-spectrum antibiotics, this was apparently a ruse so that he could preserve a genetic record of his teammates against Masque's flesh-shifting effect.

  • Eye-Spys - Forge employed these remote-flying cameras for reconnaissance work in the Morlock Tunnels, searching for enemy Morlocks and sharing information in order to map out the tunnels. Their scans and observations transmitted back to a palm-sized screen Forge kept with him.
  • Pathfinder - A free-flying sphere, this device presumably took its cue from data gathered by the Eye-Spys. It was designed to fly on a course leading Forge and his allies out of the Morlock Tunnels, leaving a trail of sparkling light behind it for them to follow.
  • Genetic recalibrator - After Masque warped the appearance of Banshee and Jean Grey, Forge used the cell samples he had taken earlier as blueprints for their original appearances. He designed a mechanism to apply those samples to their current physiologies, restoring them to their normal states.

  • Maintenance system - Forge's artificial leg has an automatic internal maintenance system, performing repairs whenever it’s damaged to restore functioning as best as possible.
  • Stunner grenade - A mechanical equivalent of Allison Blaire's "dazzle" effect, it generated a stroboscopic flashbulb which rendered opponents temporarily blinded and disoriented. Forge also designed special goggles to protect himself and others from the effect.
  • Storage bag - When asked how he stored so much in one little bag, Forge claimed it was "magic". That could be true, but the bag could also contain tesseracts to expand the space inside to be greater than the outside. Or the unique nature of the unstable molecule costumes may have just made them easier to compress and store.
  • Bionic arm - Forge claims to have contributed to the design of Misty Knight's bionic arm. He didn't create it alone, though, since Tony Stark has also claimed credit for the cybernetic limb in the past.

  • Inhibitor shackle - When Archangel was driven mad and near-dying from a subcutaneous poison capsule, Forge constructed a means of subduing him. The shackle locked around his waist and reduced him to unconsciousness. The effect was designed to happen slowly so that Warren had time to land if he was in the air when the shackle locked on.

  • Medical tool - Forge employed several devices to locate the poison capsule in Archangel's body, then remove it.

  • Photon rifle - Shoots photons.
  • Sensor Improvements - With Mister Fantastic, Forge modified the Fantasticars' sensors, enabling them to track the unique energy readings generated by Franklin Richards' future self.

  • Battle staff - Forge is seen wielding a metal quarterstaff which he uses to deflect energy blasts.
  • Scramblers - When the X-Posse invaded Genosha, they ran the risk of being tracked by satellite surveillance and specialized Mutate trackers. Forge came up with scramblers to mask their movements from detection.

  • Auto-bomb - A self-guiding explosive mechanism, this device was released in Genosha and programmed to seek out the "technological heart" of the Magistrates' complex before detonating itself, in order to cause the maximum amount of damage to their foes' infrastructure.
  • Blasters - Forge armed himself and Cable, and repaired their individual bionics, using scrap materials found in the Genoshan complex.

  • Inhibitor screens - Designed to prevent long-range orbital targeting of the X-Men's position, Forge put together a series of counter-measure systems to protect them.
  • Space suits - These light-weight and skeletal pressure suits were affixed to the outside of the X-Men's costumes, protecting them from the void of space while still allowing considerable maneuverability.
  • Skysled - Forge cobbled together this vehicle using equipment scavenged by Lila Cheney. Based on a motorcycle and sidecar design, it was capable of high-atmospheric flight, and possibly even orbital escape. The vehicle included a pilot and a gunner's seat.

  • Glider wings - Used for infiltrating Muir Isle, combined with personalized winds provided by Storm.

  • Electromagnetic scrambling gun - To counteract the Shadow King's control over his friends, Forge designed this gun to generate a scrambler field and temporarily block out the King's telepathic wavelength. By zapping one of his pawns, it was like cutting a puppet's strings.
  • Neurosynaptic buffer - The gun was only designed as a temporary measure. Next came an injection of microscopic synaptic neutralizers which kept the Shadow King permanently out of his victims' thoughts.

  • Proximity sensors - While on the run from the Shadow King's people, Forge rigged the area with motion detectors to alert him of incoming threats.

  • X-Mansion - Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters was heavily retrofitted at this point, after its destruction at the hands of Mister Sinister. New or improved features included the Danger Room, War Room, Ready Room, Cerebro, among others. Forge almost certainly lent his skills to the manufacture and improvement of many of these elements.
  • Blackbird - Forge designed the X-Men a specially-modified version of the Lockheed SR-71 stealth aircraft.

  • Shield - For protective purposes, Forge attached an energy projector to his forearm. It generated a disk of solid energy, rather similar to Captain America's shield, to absorb or deflect attacks directed at him.


  • X-Wing - Forge constructed this "vehicle" solely for the purpose of infiltrating Asteroid M. It was totally transparent and composed of non-metallic parts in order to be invisible to visual and electronic scans, and undetectable by Magneto's connection to the electromagnetic field. It still maintained working computer systems and video display monitors. The glider had no independent capacity for propulsion, but relied on Storm's winds and Jean's TK for lift and drive.

  • Psychic dampener - Built into his chess set, Forge created the dampener specifically to help him beat Professor Xavier at chess. It scrambled telepathic wavelengths to give Charles a headache and prevent him from accessing his psychic powers. Forge still lost.
  • Hovercraft - A small, one-manned vehicle, Forge used this flying airship to retrieve Jean Grey from the battlefield while she was possessing Emma Frost. The craft held a containment pod in the back to keep Jean safe, but secured in a stasis field, in case the White Queen was actually in control.

  • Psychic transfer equipment - With Jean trapped in Emma Frost's body, Xavier needed to marshall his strength to reverse the process. Forge monitored the situation using special scanners designed to detect psi wavelengths and block them out, preventing any interference during the delicate transference.

  • Wrist-tracers - When the X-Men were hunting an alien lifeform, Forge programmed a set of trackers for the team to wear that would guide them to their target.

  • Containment gun - A non-lethal ordinance, Forge created a gun which fired a series of straps and bands that assembled around his target in moments as a restraint cocoon.
  • Augmentation console - While searching for the Acolytes, the X-Men discovered a 60 mile "dead zone" in Cerebro's mutant detection capabilities in France. Forge constructed a booster unit on-site to penetrate the cloaking device's power, and a portable booster unit that would allow the X-Men to apply Cerebro's detection ability within the zone to narrow down the villains' location.

  • Geo-Thermal 960 - Designed by Forge over breakfast, this massive hand-cannon was composed out of vibranium polymer and delivered a powerful explosive blast.
  • Interact - The name of Forge's defense interactive program for protecting his home at Eagle Plaza. It included basics such as perimeter alarms and security cameras, as well as more exotic features such as holes which spontaneously opened in the floor, revealing tunnels that could be navigated via personal hover platforms which flew up to meet Forge as he fell through from the level above.

  • Defense dome - Presumably another facet of Interact, this dome spontaneously manifested to cover Forge and Mystique the moment before Fitzroy triggered a neutron charge at point blank range, protecting them both from the ensuing explosion.
X-Men (2nd series) #25
  • Magneto Protocols - Seeking to defend themselves from the Master of Magnetism, the joint nations of the world unleashed a series of satellites which surrounded the planet in a web mesh of electromagnetic energy. Essentially, the web realigned the planet's electromagnetic field just enough to render Magneto's own magnetic powers non-functional within the planet's atmosphere. Forge triggered the satellites' activation, although it is unclear if he was the sole designer behind them.

  • X-Factor's brownstone - As a defense system, Forge integrated a holographic imaging network with sensory augmentation into the building, essentially turning the entire headquarters into a "Danger Room".
X-Men Unlimited (1st series) #5
  • Support column - During a terrorist attack on Shi'ar-occupied Hala, Forge scraped together some scrap to form a telescoping brace, which he used to support the Imperial balcony damaged in a plasma grenade blast.
  • Leg braces - Cobbled together out of simple materials for the Professor so that he could move around in Hala's poorer areas without attracting attention.

  • Micro-tech cannon - When confronted with the elemental magick construct known as Strange, Forge ran an extensive energy scan on the creature. After isolating his unique energy fields, Forge created a weapon that fired a carrier beam filled with microscopic machines designed to integrate with Strange's energy and explosively disrupt him.

  • Holographic transmitter - Roughly the size of a fountain pen, Forge created this device to cast an imaging field which disguised him and his traveling companions as "normal" people while moving through a European mountain town.

  • Mystique's implant - In order to keep the renegade shapeshifter in line as a member of X-Factor, Forge and Val Cooper had her surgically implanted with a subcutaneous device that served two purposes. First, it sent out a tracer beacon whenever she morphed, allowing X-Factor to track her down. Second, it set a 30 second limit to Mystique's ability to assume specifically programmed identities, particularly those of the X-Men and X-Factor. Attempting to exceed the 30 second limit would induce neural feedback and cause Mystique great pain.

  • Broadband energy sensors - As the Danger Room began acting up and apparently swallowed Xavier and Colossus into a portal, Forge reconfigured the Room's internal diagnostic sensors into detectors searching for outside forces acting upon the room. They were able to register a teleportation exit probe, an energy signature which acted as a "scout" to ensure the proper location for incoming teleporters to materialize.

  • Sabretooth's collar - This restraint device was occasionally, but not consistently, referred to as Forge's handiwork. Possibly the government designed the original collar, and Forge made upgrades. The collar was designed to prevent Sabretooth from attacking "friendlies" in the field. It measured Creed's brain wave activity and adrenaline output next to his proximity with other bio-signatures in the immediate area. If Creed attempted to physically harm anyone, an electrical impulse would be sent through his brain stem and spinal column, causing him extraordinary pain and temporary paralysis. A specific bio-signature could be removed from the collar, allowing Sabretooth to hunt a certain fugitive or target for the government without letting him harm others. Naturally, the shock pulse was also triggered if Creed tried to remove the collar.

  • Electromagnetic pulse gun - Created to deal with Prime Sentinels, this firearm temporarily scrambled the command networks of Bastion's cyborg henchmen, incapacitating without killing them.

  • Perpetual motion machine - Conceived, unknown if Forge successfully disproved the 2nd law of thermo- dynamics here.

  • Holo-deck - Only mentioned, apparently a working simulation of the interactive imaging chambers used in Star Trek.
  • Magneto suit - Made for disguise and practical purposes, this costume allowed Xavier to pose as Magneto and artificially duplicate his powers to some degree.

  • Cybernetic hand - Forge's bionics are equipped with a spray of narcotic gas, released from a vent in his hand.
  • Interference transmitter - After the government designs a sensor array capable of tracking Mystique's unique bio-signs wherever she goes, Forge invented a counter-device that scrambles the government's tool, producing a digital smokescreen that masks Mystique's location completely.
  • Spyware - A Game Boy Advance modified to produce an electromagnetic pulse strong enough to disable the shielded CPUs of a group of Sentinels. In theory.

  • Tranq gun - This weapon fired simple pneumatic darts filled with neural inhibitors to knock out opponents without killing them.

  • Spyware - Forge designed a personal jetpack for emergency situations, allowing short-range flight. Other inventions include a long-range tracking device inside a tube of lipstick, a bobby pin capable of releasing three electrical discharges, from stun to killing intensity, and a biometric shield built into a watch. The shield only works for three minutes, but was capable of screening out Level Four infectious agents.

  • Spyware - A laptop containing a built-in medical scanner.

  • Spyware - A blow-dryer capable of generating an explosive discharge.

  • Terminal - Made of spare parts, this Wi-Fi terminal was capable of accessing highly restricted government databases, and its signal was nigh-untraceable.
  • Polygraph - Constructed out of a telephone, enabling him to scan voice patterns to determine if someone was lying.

  • Relay tower - To help Professor Xavier in Genosha keep in telepathic contact with his agent, Mystique, Forge constructed relay towers to boost his psychic transmissions across the globe.
  • Spyware - Forge constructed an electrified taser weapon disguised as a PDA, able to produce a non-lethal but incapacitating charge through a steel-jacketed dart. He also provided Mystique with a makeup compact that functioned as a data recorder, able to assimilate large amounts of data stored on computer via close proximity.

  • Synthetic telepathy - Transmitted via a small dish which unfurled from Forge's palm. Apparently acted as a booster enabling Forge to initiate a psi-link with Xavier half a world away.
  • Earring - Allowed radio communication between Forge and Mystique.
  • Goggles - Included multiple visual enhancements, including telescopic and x-ray scans.

  • Regulator gauntlets - Created for Noriko Ashida at the Xavier Institute, these mechanical gloves helped her control her electricity absorbing powers. They prevented her from overloading her system, and let her siphon electricity from her surroundings on command, instead of at all times. These gauntlets have been upgraded and slimmed down several times since the first model.
Cable & Deadpool #15
  • Teleportation harness - With Cable lost, his friends utilized Deadpool's unique connection to Nathan to track him down. Forge constructed a harness that interfaced with Deadpool's bodysliding ability to scan interspatial and intraspatial locations for Cable -- within a single dimension, and between alternate dimensions. Since Cable's essence had been scattered across multiple dimensions, the harness was able to store this "energy" until Deadpool accumulated all of it. Forge then designed a means of restoring Cable by feeding his scattered essence back into his recovered body.

  • MRI scanner - In lieu of the normal full body scanner, Forge employed a handheld magnetic resonant imaging device that could remotely scan people from a short distance away, and display the scans on a small video screen.

  • Anti-Sentinel Unit - Faced with mutant extinction after M-Day, Forge constructed a mutant-protecting robot designed to follow a series of protocols. It possessed great strength, self-repair capabilities, on-board energy weapons and flight.

  • Arms - Bishop stole a bionic prosthesis from Forge labeled a nuclear-powered battle-ready arm. It was one of a series including a beacon arm, medivac arm, and nanite delivery arm. The arm gives Bishop a measure of superhuman strength, includes telescopic grappling claws that pop out from the forearm, and Bishop also incorporated time travel mechanisms enabling him to jump forward and backwards through time, not space...also of Forge's design.

  • Security defenses - Only seen in the planning stages, Forge was considering installing some serious measures in Eagle Plaza, including micro-needle launchers filled with acid capsules, turbo lightning, flamethrowers, argon blasters, electrified tripwires, infrared beams, gamma cannons, hologram units masking blast doors and electric & acid pits, etc.

  • Artificial mutants - Engineered with a triploid strand of DNA that could activate mutant abilities in an otherwise normal human being.
