Shang-Chi approaches the Scotland home of an old associate at MI-6, who has contacted him for mysterious reasons. He stops at the gates, and knows that he is being followed. Suddenly a huge group of ninjas jump out at him and attack. He manages to fight them off using his martial arts skills, but then some of the ninjas start using advanced weaponry. They don’t kill him, because they just wanted to know if he was involved, so they flee.
Wolverine suddenly appears, and proceeds to fight with Shang-Chi to test him. Storm appears and throws a lightning bolt at Wolverine, angry that he attacked one who is supposed to help them. Cannonball also arrives, and Shang-Chi wonders who they are and why they are there. They introduce themselves as the X-Men and he goes into the house. He is observed by Cyclops and Phoenix, who are shielded from sight by Phoenix’ psionic powers. Shang-Chi’s instincts are perfect, however, and he throws a statue at them.
At that moment, Shang-Chi’s old associate Reston appears, and he and the X-Men explain what is going on. They were only taking precautions, which they found necessary, since the Hellfire Club is involved.Sebastian Shaw has been trying to gain the Elixir Vitae in order to create a cure for the Legacy Virus, and of course make huge amounts of money treating victims of said virus. He is based in Hong Kong as part of the international Hellfire Club. As the mysterious elixir was created by Shang-Chi’s father, the X-Men want his help.
Later in Shaw’s office, a man reports the approach of the jet carrying the X-Men, and Shaw tells him to give them a “reception”. In downtown Hong Kong, the X-men and Shang-Chi drive through the streets in two teams for safety’s sake. Wolverine, riding with Cannonball, suddenly realizes something is wrong with the other car. He tries to warn Cyclops and the rest, but the car explodes before they can get out. Fortunately Phoenix manages to enclose them in a telekinetic bubble, so they survive. Before they can get their bearings, they are attacked by a super-powered group of of cyberninjas.
