Full Synopsis:

At the ruins of the mansion, government workers are examining what's left,
trying to figure out what was the purpose of the Danger Room. Outside, a
reporter tries getting information out of the guards but they push her away.
She talks to the camera and ends her broadcasting. The television switches
to a news reporter at his desk. He talks about the mutant search. Photos of
some of the X-Men are seen on the screen.

In a store, Logan and Rogue are trying to buy food without being noticed, as
Rogue's picture just appeared on the screen. Soldiers enter the store and
notice them. Rogue hides and Wolverine pops his claws. A fight starts, but
eventually they escape on Logan's motorcycle.

On television a news report shows the store's security tape with the battle.
Then there's a cut to the Capitol, where a Congressional hearing on the
mutant menace is taking place. Suddenly, Storm and Beast walk in. the
chairman asks who they are, and Ororo answers that they are mutant and that
this witch hunt is going to stop now.

In a train station, a train arrives. A deputy and an engineer open the door
to reveal Cain Marko, the unstoppable Juggernaut. The deputy orders him to
step outside, but Cain doesn't budge. The deputy orders him to identify
himself, and Cain puts on his helmet and tells them that he is Juggernaut.
He walks away, and the two men decide to call the sheriff.

Meanwhile, the X-Men are hidden in a cave. Jean and Scott are near the exit,
talking. She tells him that Spyke's trying to get his little T.V. working,
but he doesn't care because it's the same on all channels: them. She says
that she wants to see Storm and Beast, but he tells her that nobody will
listen to them. She gets angry at him, telling him that he isn't helping,
and he apologizes and explains that they should be looking for the
professor, not hiding. She says that she's sure he's okay, and he thanks
her. They get closer, but Kurt teleports and interrupts them. He is trying
to get a good reception for the T.V. It doesn't work and he teleports away
deeper into the cave. He is hanging from the ceiling above Kitty, Evan and
Bobby. Evan tells him not to move and calls for everybody. Kurt complains
that he can't move, but Kitty and Bobby solve it: she holds the television,
he freezes her and she phases out. The T.V. is too small for all of them to
see, but Bobby makes ice the project the picture into a bigger one. Storm is
on the screen, saying that they are peaceful and lived among them for years
without incidents. The chairman shows a picture of the Danger Room, thinking
the weapons as preparations for war. Cyclops shakes his head and says "not
good."

On the road, Rogue and Logan are running from a helicopter on the
motorcycle. Logan isn't happy that Rogue is driving, but she seems to be
handling it pretty well.

Back in the cave, Beast is shown on screen saying that the Sentinel attacked
them and they had no choice but to defend themselves. The chairman says that
maybe they built the robot, and Storm says that that's ridiculous. Rogue and
Logan get to the cave and when she stops he flies and breaks the ice
television. They tell the other that helicopters are coming, and just then
the helicopters arrive. Wolverine says that they'll have to fight, but
Cyclops stops him, saying that they won't attack. Iceman freezes the
entrance to the cave, and the helicopters start shooting at the ice. Scott
and Logan start arguing. Scott sticks to the claim that they're heroes and
they shouldn't hurt the choppers because that will only prove them right.
They have to show them that they are not the enemy. He also says that if the
professor was there, he'd have them run. Everyone agrees with him, and Logan
leaves them. They leave the cave, and Evan and Jean hit the bombs sent at
them. Two helicopters leave as Iceman and Cyclops slide to the Velocity. A
helicopter prepares to shoot at it, but Kurt and Kitty teleport into it.
Kurt introduces them, and Kitty phases through the weapon system, disrupting
it. They teleport to the Velocity, and Jean lands the choppers easily, and
then prevents them from taking off. The Velocity leaves.

Meanwhile, police cars and a news van are chasing the Juggernaut, who beats
them with ease.

In the Capitol, Storm and Beast try to convince the chairman that they are
people, not monsters, regardless of what they can do or what they may look
like. The chairman shows them a video of the Juggernaut on a dam causing a
blackout in a city. In the Velocity, the X-Men are watching the whole thing.
They say that there is no way to stop the Juggernaut without the professor.

On the dam, the Juggernaut causes panic in the city. He breaks the dam and
it leaks. Helicopters try attacking but fail. In the Velocity, Jean asks
Scott if they should get involved. He answers that it'll be the Sentinel
disaster all over again - somehow they'll get blamed. She asks him what the
professor would want them to do. Scott agrees and turns around. The
Juggernaut makes a helicopter drop, and Nightcrawler saves the pilot by
teleporting him. The X-Men face the Juggernaut. Cain tries to hit Kurt, but
he teleports onto his back. He then tries to stomp Rogue, but Jean saves
her. Scott attacks with an optic blast and Juggernaut lands on Bobby's ice
and falls on the dam. Cain climbs back up, but the X-Men aren't there.
Suddenly, Evan shoots at his back from some sort of a tank. Cain jumps at
the tank as Spyke rushes away to another platform, shoots at the tank and
makes Juggernaut fall onto another ice-slide. Kitty jumps on him and, as
they slide down, phases him into a platform, but not out of it. He gets
trapped. Meanwhile, Jean and Bobby take care of the leak with telekinesis
and ice. Nightcrawler teleports around and manages to undo three latches
that hold Juggernaut's helmet before Cain grabs him and tosses him away.
Juggernaut breaks through the dam and releases himself. He climbs up again,
and Bobby, Evan and Rogue run. Scott uses an optic blast to blast off Cain's
helmet. Then he tries blasting again, but Cain stops the blast with his
hands. Scott takes off his visor and releases a powerful blast. It has
almost no affect on him, and he walks towards Cyclops. He grabs Scott and
tries punching him, but Evan, Kurt and Bobby stall him. Kitty and Rogue
phase behind them, Rogue takes off her glove and jumps at Cain. Now
possessing his power, she easily stops him and throws him off the dam as
Bobby freezes him.

In the Capitol, the chairman asks what just happened. Storm answers that
they did what they were trained to do – use their powers for good. In the
Velocity, Rogue tells the others that she absorbed Cain's mind and she now
knows where the professor is.

In prison, the X-Men watch the tank that is Cain's prison. Xavier is
floating inside. The technician releases him. Logan walks in, and
congratulates Scott on a job well done. Jean and Scott help Xavier up.

In the White House, the president gives a speech in favor of mutants. He
says that the X-Men are clear of all charges and that the real criminal is
behind bars. There's a cut to a prison cell, where Trask is seen. At the
ruins of the institute, the X-Men and the New Mutants are standing. In the
Acolytes hideout, the Acolytes are watching the T.V. The closing shot is a
close-up on Magneto.
