ELLERBY, SILAS

Silas' sad tale was told by Cypher on Halloween to some of the children on Krakoa, therefore some if not all of it may be fiction. In 1856, Silas, a man of modest means and his wife were sailing to Australia from the London. She had supported him when she found out about his mutant gifts but gossip was starting to get round now. Silas believed that his powers would give them an advantage in finding gold in Australia and they would return to the UK rich. Due to terrible storms their ship was  submerged and Lucy (and their implied unborn child) died. Silas managed to survive and got to shore, to Krakoa. As Silas was a mutant, Krakoa could feed on his blood, however due to his geokinetic powers he was able to completely control the island and protect himself. The island did try and appease him initially, gave him food etc. However as he was driven mad by his loss he started to warp the entire island's resources into a giant castle, the one he had wanted to build for him and Lucy. Feeling that Silas was too big a threat to it at this stage, Krakoa reached into the ocean and got his wife's corpse. It propped it up in front of him, thinking it was his own powers that did it, Silas jumped to his death and Krakoa wiped all trace of his castle from it's land.
