Notes:

This entry specifically refers to only the Phoenix Force when it duplicated Jean Grey's body and believed itself to be the real Jean Grey. Her dark side began to arise in X-Men (1st series) #132, where she became the Black Queen, and in #134, where she became Dark Phoenix.

The memories of this version of Jean Grey were carried by a portion of the Phoenix Force to the real Jean in stasis underneath Jamaica Bay, where she subconsciously rejected the horrors of wiping out a solar system. It then traveled to the next available receptacle, Sinister's inert clone who became Madelyne Pryor. When Madelyne died in Inferno, her memories and the memories of Dark Phoenix were absorbed into Jean's mind.
