After the Decimation, the British government decided to become more pro-active with metahuman affairs through their specialist division in MI-13, who in turn reassembled an Excalibur team. This "New Excalibur" operated through a 24 issue series before coming to an end in the X-Men: Die By the Sword limited series. After several members departed, Captain Britain and Pete Wisdom remained as active MI-13 operatives, but allowed the Excalibur group itself to disband.
