The Guardians of the Galaxy were formed by Star-Lord after the Phalanx invasion of the Kree Empire. They assumed their name after meeting a member of the 31st century Guardians through time travel.
Other members include Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Adam Warlock, Rocket Raccoon, Martyr, Cosmo, Bug, Groot, Major Victory, Jack Flag, Angela, Beta Ray Bill, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Captain Marvel and Moondragon of the Super-Hero universe, Super-Skrull, and Nebula.
