The prestigious Massachusetts Academy was once seen as a elite private school run by their headmistress, businesswoman Emma Frost. In fact, the academy housed a training facility for young mutants on behalf of the Hellfire Club. These Hellions were gathered by Frost, the Club's White Queen, using her mutant-sensitive computer system Mutivac. They served as the opposite number to Xavier's students, the New Mutants, until Trevor Fitzroy stormed through the Hellfire Club in the Upstarts competition, killing nearly all the Hellions in Uncanny X-Men #281-282.
