In the mid-21st century, mutantkind fled Earth and established a colony on a distant world known as Haven. Generations of breeding among a small genetic stock dramatically reduced the number of mutant births, however, and humans eventually became more common than mutants. Mutants still remained the dominant species on the planet, with the descendants of Wolverine acting as overlord to the human "cattle". By the 31st century, Logan's fifth generation descendant Rancor ruled Haven with her ruling party, the Nine, the only mutants left on the planet.
