The Villains for Hire were two rival groups of super-villians hired out on a per-case basis for specific assignments. Their coordinator, known as Control, orchestrated the villains' activities in the field via radio earpieces.
Other members unrelated to the X-Men include Purple Man, Headhunter, Shocker, Death-Stalker, Scourge, Crossfire, Man-Ape, Speed Demon, Bombshell, Tiger Shark, Bushmaster, Monster, Nightshade, Lady Stilt-Man, Mole Man, and Puppet Master.
