The version of X-Force was formed in the aftermath of Hope's return by Wolverine and Archangel. They operated completely outside of Cyclops's jurisdiction, who believed X-Force disbanded when he ordered it. Prepared to make the most severe but necessary calls for the sake of mutantkind, X-Force found themselves morally compromised time and time again. The group eventually disbanded as the members mostly resigned to finding a more positive approach to problems than killing.
