In the alternate reality known as the Age of Apocalypse, Manuel was a captive of Mikhail Rasputin, Horseman of the High-Lord En Sabuh Nur. Hooked up to machinery aboard Mikhail’s ship, Manny was forced to use his powers to manipulate the human population in in Eurosia into joining Mikhail’s Upscale Program. Using his powers on such a massive scale was painful for Manny and when riots broke out, the psychic feedback was agonizing. When Keeper Murdock, Mikhail’s loyal servant and Manuel’s guard, briefly connected with Manuel and shared his pain firsthand, he mercifully killed Manuel using his club, putting this tortured version of Empath out of his misery.
