metabolize someone's essence at a remote distance, incapacitating them while absorbing and duplicating their memories, skills and special powers, absorbed Wonder Man's ionic energy, giving her superhuman strength, endurance, invulnerability, and flight
Recruited for the Unity Division in Uncanny Avengers (1st series) #4.
As a member of the Australian X-Men, Rogue was once rendered invisible to all forms of electronic detection.
In the past, she has permanently possessed different sets of powers. She had Ms. Marvel's power template from Avengers Annual #10 until X-Treme X-Men #18. She had Sunfire's power template from Rogue (3rd series) #11 until X-Men (2nd series) #207. In Uncanny Avengers (1st series) #21, she became host to Wonder Man's ionic energy form. He eventually separated from her in Uncanny Avengers (3rd series) #22, but she retains a copy of his powers.
Rogue's powers were artificially enhanced by Strain 89 in X-Men (2nd series) #196 so that a single touch would completely drain the essence of someone. The touch of the infant mutant child Hope in #207 restored her traditional power levels. Charles Xavier and Danger went further in #224 and finally gave Rogue control of her powers and the ability to touch others freely. She lost control again following her bond with Wonder Man, above. Recently in Mr. and Mrs. X #5, Rogue's powers increased after merging powers with Xandra. Now her "touch" uncontrollably affects anyone within a general proximity.
