After Alpha Flight denounced the Canadian government as their sponsors and then disappeared for several months, a new Gamma Flight was constructed as an official replacement team by Parliament. They eventually folded back into Alpha Flight after the war against Llan the Sorcerer in Alpha Flight (1st series) #87.
