By the 31st century, mutantkind had abandoned Earth and fled into the stars seeking a new destiny. They eventually settled on a desolate world ironically named "Haven", under the care of the last surviving mutant from their original trek, Wolverine. Logan's descendants ruled over Haven, becoming more violent and tyrannical with each generation. At the same time, the mutant population of Haven dwindled, as non-powered human babies were born more and more often to the settlers. By 3019, only nine mutants remained on all of Haven. The non-powered population of Haven began organizing against Rancor and her lieutenants, awaiting the arrival of the legendary Overmen.
