Before
- Emmeline Frost-Summers hails from a world that never got past the Victorian-era level of technology. She is a member of the Albion X Society and remained in a relationship with Scott Summers, even though it was frowned upon. After the team caused a zeppelin disaster, they fell out of favor with the public and Emma moved to Europe, where she would be able to marry Scott without it becoming a scandal. Cyclops was eventually killed when he was kidnapped from his reality to power a machine to keep a dying world alive. [Astonishing X-Men: Ghost Boxes #1]
- Dazzler moved to San Francisco and rejoined the X-Men, functioning as one of the X-Men’s street team members. [Uncanny X-Men (1st series) #503]
- Howlett, Emmeline and Kid Nightcrawler were brought together from various realities by an evil version of Charles Xavier. His world was dying and he was using the powers of alternate reality superheroes to power a machine to save it. When Cyclops from the 616 universe was also taken, he managed to stop Xavier’s plans and free the prisoners. Using a Ghost Box from the evil Xavier, he reluctantly returned home, leaving the alternate Earth to its fate. [Astonishing X-Men (3rd series) #44-47]
- Sage joined the reality hopping Exiles but merged with their omnipotent base the Crystal Palace. [New Exiles #1-18]
Chronology
On the world that Cyclops freed of Xavier’s rule, the remaining heroes make a last ditch attempt to teleport their entire civilization to another reality. They pulled it off but in the process ripped open a hole in their reality and possibly broke the multiverse. At the same time in the 616 universe, Cyclops had Dazzler use her powers on the Ghost Box he had previously used. A portal opened up and Howlett, Emmeline and Kurt Waggoner fell through, along with a giant squid-like creature. Dazzler fought the creature off but was pulled back through by its tentacles. As the other inter-dimensional X-Men dove back through to save her, the portal closed. They fought and killed the squid-creature, which turned out to be another evil version of Charles Xavier. A bodiless Xavier, whose head floated around in a jar, told them that something in the multiverse was now broken and to fix it they needed to kill ten different versions of himself. Dazzler was not happy at the prospect of murdering people, especially alternate versions of her mentor, but the bodiless Xavier ignored her objections and teleported the rag-tag group of mutants to another reality so they could begin their mission. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #1]
When the team landed from their portal, they were met by a group of godlike mutants. The gods demanded the team bow before them but Dazzler refused and started a fight. The team was no match for the deities and it was Emmeline, who knocked Dazzler out, who saved their lives. They were taken to the god’s palace, where Archangel took a special interest in Dazzler. Emmeline managed to strike a bargain with the All-Mother Storm to keep their lives in return for them becoming slaves. Dazzler refused and angered Storm and would have been killed if they hadn’t been saved by that world’s Xavier and Magneto.
Dazzler went with them and learned that the gods were terrorizing the world and the few remaining free people lived on a shielded island called Utopia. Xavier used his version of Cerebro to spy on the gods and the teammates that had been left back there. Xavier told Dazzler that they needed to kill Emmeline and the bodiless Xavier, otherwise the gods would use them to find Utopia. Taking the fight back to the gods, a bloody battle erupted that ended when the bodiless Xavier discovered his native counterpart was mind-controlling the deities. Dazzler reluctantly stabbed the man with a light sword, freeing the minds of the gods. Horrified by what they had done under Xavier’s control, the gods turned on him and finished him off. Storm and the rest of her group decided to use their powers to repair the damage they had caused. They offered the X-Treme X-Men the chance to become gods too but they all turned it down, except Emmeline. With no reason to go back home, she was turned into a goddess and stayed behind as the rest of her team jumped to the next reality. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #2-3]
Landing on a steampunk, wild west world, the team immediately spotted trouble when they saw a local gang harassing the townsfolk. It became personal for Howlett when he realized that one of the families there was an alternate version of his own and in fact his counterpart was just a young boy here. The team fought the gang but Howlett was captured and the rest escaped with his younger counterpart. Discovering that another Xavier was leading the gang, Dazzler decided to help the town out. Howlett was imprisoned alongside his “father” and was soon visited by Xavier and brainwashed. Dazzler used her light powers to find where Howlett’s father was being kept and they broke him free. Xavier was on to their plans, though, and he sent his gang, including Howlett, to kill them.
The two sides clashed but Xavier’s gang was taken out one-by-one. The bodiless Xavier tried to take on his evil counterpart but was unprepared for how strong his adversary was. The native Xavier dug into his memories and found out all of his secrets. Xavier was eventually cornered and he was killed by Howlett, who managed to overcome his brainwashing. With his hold over the gang gone, the town finally returned to peace and the young James Howlett was reunited with his family. As the team teleported away, though, Kurt thought he saw his own family and tried to reach for them. In doing so, he became separated from his team and ended up back in his home reality. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #4-5]
In Kurt’s reality, the machines had risen up and taken over but he had been plucked from reality before he was killed. Now that he was back, he was immediately imprisoned to await trial. Elsewhere, the X-Treme X-Men landed in a pre-historic world but Dazzler refused to complete the mission until they got Kurt back. Leaving Xavier alone, she and Howlett jumped to Kurt’s world and found it in ruins. They made their way through the hordes of machines and broke Kurt out of jail. They were about to be killed but they were rescued by Sage, who recognized Dazzler as being from her own reality. Sage was working with this universe’s SWORD to monitor the planet in the wake of the machine uprising. Danger from the X-Men had led the revolution and was now dead set on executing Kurt. The team eventually convinced her to allow him to live, after which they left the planet in the rule of the machines. Sage decided to join the X-Treme X-Men and so they continued on their journey. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #6-7]
In Between
The Phoenix Force returned to Earth 616 and the Avengers and X-Men went to war as to how to deal with it. Five of the X-Men became possessed by the Phoenix, though eventually they turned on each other until Cyclops was the sole-possessor, becoming soon thereafter Dark Phoenix. Charles Xavier tried to calm Cyclops down but was killed in the process. Afterward, the Phoenix was forcibly removed from Cyclops by Hope Summers and the Scarlet Witch. [Avengers vs X-Men crossover]
Chronology Continued
Trying to relocate Xavier, the team soon believed they had found him and jumped to the reality they believed he was in. Unfortunately, they were mistaken, as they had been drawn to a different version of Xavier, this one an Acanti Skywhale. The Skywhale was under the command of a Brood Queen and it was headed to a defenseless reality without a Charles Xavier in it. The X-Treme X-Men managed to make it to the world before the Skywhale and found it was actually Earth 616, Dazzler and Sage’s home reality. Not realizing she was actually on her own planet, Dazzler met with Cyclops and found out that he had killed that reality’s Xavier. After the Skywhale suddenly appeared over San Francisco, Dazzler and her team fought off a Brood attack, whilst Howlett made his way into the alien creature. Inside, he killed the Brood Queen, ending the threat to the city, but also ending the life of the Skywhale. Afterwards, Dazzler realized she was on her home planet but chose to continue her mission, as it was the right thing to do. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #7.1]
In Between
The bodiless Xavier continued the team’s mission and recruited another set of heroes to aid him. They managed to kill a dinosaur version of Xavier on the world on which Dazzler had landed before she left to find Kurt.
Chronology Continued
The team eventually found their own Xavier and met with his new team. As well as an alternate Cyclops and Hercules, Dazzler came face to face with another version of herself. The two teams immediately clashed, although Howlett quickly realized that the Hercules on the other team was in fact his love, from whom he had been separated. Whilst the two teams tried to sort out their differences, they still had a job to do. They had landed on a world that was seemingly full of friendly unicorns and rainbows. However, in reality, it was all an illusion created by that reality’s Xavier, who was a demonic creature. It took the combined effort of both teams to kill him and end the threat he posed. Unfortunately, the new Dazzler didn’t take kindly to her counterpart and she stabbed her with a light dagger. With Dazzler critically injured, the team jumped again to the next reality. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #8]
When Dazzler finally awoke, she found the team locked in battle with the forces of a Witch King Xavier. This version possessed powerful magic and had an army of creatures at his disposal. Many of the new members of the team were relishing too much in the act of fighting to see they were losing track of their mission. Dazzler managed to defeat the army and the team took a brief moment to come up with a plan as to how to take out Xavier. The team attacked him on different fronts but Xavier proved to be a powerful adversary. As well as swiping away Hercules and Howlett with ease, he also stopped Sage and the bodiless Xavier from using their psychic attacks. It was the alternate Dazzler who finally killed him, sacrificing her own life to take him out. The remaining Dazzler was profoundly moved by her counterpart’s actions and decided to adopt her uniform in memory of her. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #9]
Landing on what appeared to be a blissfully peaceful world, the team took some time out to relax in a lake. Whilst the new team members were filling the others in on their back stories, they were attacked by a Japanese version of Namor. He quickly realized that they were not from this reality but it came too late when the real threat of the Nazi Xavier emerged. However, to their surprise, Xavier told the team that Namor was the real problem and they became somewhat convinced when a tsunami began raging down on them. Confused as to who the real enemy was, the X-Men attacked Namor and managed to knock him down. Dazzler was not convinced all that she was seeing was true, though, and so she feigned allegiance to Xavier. He eventually showed his true colors and so Dazzler stabbed him when she got the chance, allowing Namor to finish him off completely. Afterwards as they were relaxing, the team’s Xavier declared that they had completed their mission and would all return home soon. Seeing as it was their last time together, Dazzler decided to pursue the feelings she was having about the team’s Cyclops. However, Kurt pointed out that the team had only taken out nine Xaviers, which left one still free. They quickly sought out their Xavier but found him in the thrall of the Witch King Xavier, who had jumped his consciousness into the bodiless Xavier before he died. To make matters worse, the Witch King Xavier resurrected the Nazi Xavier and then they all teleported away in a bid to control the multiverse. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #10-11]
The team tracked the three Xaviers down to a reality similar to ancient Egypt. They remained in disguise as they watched the Xaviers command an army of slaves to build a great statue. In the eye of the statue was a tear in the fabric of reality from which the Xavier’s were siphoning power. As the team attacked the evil Xaviers, Dazzler tried to destroy the tear with her powers but only ended up feeding it instead. The Nazi and Witch King Xaviers were vaporized and the team’s Xavier was freed of the control they had on him. Still, the tear began to grow larger and started consuming everything around it. The team quickly jumped out of the reality before it was destroyed completely. [X-Treme X-Men (2nd series) #12]
In Between
- The Age of Apocalypse version of Nightcrawler had traveled from his home reality to Earth 616 in pursue of the men that betrayed his team and killed his wife. He joined X-Force but betrayed them so that he could exact his revenge on his targets. With no ties to Earth 616, he decided to return back to his home reality. However, Wolverine, the leader of X-Force, decided to make Nightcrawler pay for his betrayal and so he had a group of X-Men help track him down. [Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #19-36]
- The Age of Apocalypse had suffered greatly since Apocalypse was killed. The reality’s version of Wolverine became possessed by Celestial energies and he waged a war on the remaining humanity and any who protected them. The few surviving X-Men teamed up with a small group of humans to battle him and they eventually found a way to extract the Celestial energies. They purged them from his body and stored them in a canister in case they should ever become useful. [Age of Apocalypse #1-13]
Chronology Continued
As they passed between realities, the team spotted a horde of monsters lying in wait. When they finally emerged, they found themselves in the Age of Apocalypse. Coincidentally, the portal they fell through had been opened by Dark Beast and Nightcrawler, who had travelled from Earth 616 to the AoA as well. Unfortunately, the portal would not close and three of the monsters came through a short time later. Xavier tried to use his powers to take them out but he was killed and his life force drained to feed the growing behemoths. The monsters split up, one attacked the city of New Apocalypse, one drained energy off the portal and another traveled through the portal to Earth 616. The heroes from across the realities joined forces to stop the monsters from causing too much damage. Hercules was killed when he tried to take on the monster attack the city. Things became dire and it seemed the only plan would be to use Celestial energies to try and kill them. Dazzler went to try and find the energies whilst the rest of her team tackled the creatures. Unfortunately, Dark Beast managed to get hold of the canister containing the Celestial energy and a chase ensued. It was Dazzler who finally beat Dark Beast and retrieved the canister, only for the AoA Jean Grey to take it. Jean ended up using the energies to transform herself into a more powerful version of herself in a bid to fight the monsters. Still, even she had a tough time fighting them and it quickly became obvious that sooner or later she too would fall. Eventually, it was decided to close off the AoA reality and trap the monsters within it. Kurt sacrificed his life to teleport the monster from 616 back through the portal again. Once there, everyone evacuated to Earth 616 and the portal was closed.
The team had lost a great many members and so, with their mission now complete, they split up. [X-termination Crossover]

- Dazzler would go on to join SHIELD in a bid to track down Cyclops’ renegade X-Men. [Uncanny X-Men (3rd series) #10]
- Howlett and Cyclops haven’t been seen since journeying to the underworld to retrieve Hercules’ soul.
- Sage has not appeared since
