Project: Purgatory

Following the events of Inferno, the United States government commissioned a special forces unit to travel into Limbo as part of a preventative measure against further invasions. Project: Purgatory set up a base of operations inside Limbo for training and experimental purposes, the latter focused around the "Inferno babies" recovered from Nastir'h and the Goblyn Queen during Inferno itself. Thanks to the temporal variance of Limbo, the Inferno babies aged nearly two decades in Limbo at Purgatory after the base was cut off from Earth, before their eventual return.
