  • Kate Pryde is finally resurrected, after many failed attempts, when Emma realizes that Kate needs to be telepathically coerced to phase out of her egg. The two women, plus Storm, then beat up Sebastian Shaw to the point that he is crippled. [Marauders #11-12]
  • Apocalypse (renamed -A-) trains Rictor to become a druid. Together they establish a Krakoan gate to Otherworld's Starlight Citadel. [Excalibur (4th series) #12]
  • The X of Swords contest begins in Otherworld, hosted by its new ruler Saturnyne. [X of Swords: Creation]
  • Rockslide is killed in Otherworld and is resurrected "wrong." [X-Factor (4th series) #4]
  • The chosen Swordbearers of Krakoa go on separate quests to retrieve their respective swords for the contest: Magik - Soulsword, Wolverine - Muramasa Blade, Storm - Skybreaker, Cypher - Warlock, Cable - The Light of Galidor, Brian Braddock - The Sword of Might, Betsy Braddock - The Starlight Sword, -A- - The Scarab, and Gorgon - Grasscutter and Godkiller.   • The Swordbearers of Arakko are gathered: Annihilation, Bei the Blood Moon, Death (First Horseman), Isca the Unbeaten, Pogg Ur-Pogg, Redroot the Forest, Solem, Summoner, War (First Horseman), and White Sword of the Ivory Spire.
