ALTERNATE VERSIONS
In the Age of Apocalypse, Gateway was discovered by socio-anthropologists from Berkley university, who brought Gateway to civilization. This version of Gateway did communicate with the 
people around him, though he too could lose himself in all the data he was monitoring and processing. After Apocalypse rose to power, Gateway set up camp in the X-Men’s abandoned headquarters on Wundagore Mountain. With Carol Danvers watching his back, Gateway spent the better part of six month trying to record all of mankind’s data before it would be lost forever, as he considered himself the living repository of humanity. Eventually, Weapon X snapped Gateway out of his routine and convinced him to aid him and the Human Council in opposing Apocalypse’s harsh regime. After Gateway safely guided the Human Council’s armada through a storm front, he also created a warpgate big enough for all the ships to pass through and reappear behind Apocalypse’s line of defense.
