When the Phoenix Force started making its way to Earth, the X-Men and Avengers found themselves at odds. The X-Men saw the Phoenix Force as a chance to restart the mutant race but the Avengers feared it because of its destructive history. It became apparent that Hope, the first mutant born after M-Day, would play a role in the outcome. When Captain America and a team of Avengers came to Utopia in a bid to take Hope into custody, the X-Men put up a fight and the battle lines were drawn. Inside his containment cell, Unit was aware of what was going on and ordered Danger to take lots of readings on Hope. When Hope went on the run, Danger was one of the many X-Men deployed in a bid to find her. Unit had become fascinated by Hope, as he had crossed paths with the Phoenix Force before. He had seen beings like Hope take control of the power with the help of five special allies, dubbed "lights." Unit decided to see what would happen if Hope didn't have her lights around, so he forced Danger to attack Hope's allies to take them out of the picture. Danger apologized to the teenagers as she was beating them, as they were not really her actions. Thankfully Unit spared their lives, as he didn't see any reason for unnecessary evil. He needn't have bothered attacking them, though, as Iron Man shot the Phoenix Force when it approached the Moon. The Force fragmented and entered five of the X-Men instead of Hope. The X-Men who had taken in the Phoenix Force became known as the Phoenix Five. Using their new god-like powers, they started to heal all the things wrong with the world. From hunger to drought to wars, there was nothing they couldn't fix. The Avengers became outlaws as they saw the power as dangerous and made a stand against the X-Men. They made attempts at taking down the members of the Phoenix Five but many were captured. Whilst some were simply imprisoned, others were given to Danger to "rehabilitate." She managed to lock Spider-Woman, Hawkeye and Luke Cage in virtual reality scenario that forced them to try and escape Utopia over and over again. [Avengers vs. X-Men #6, New Avengers (2nd series) #28]

The Phoenix Five were also using their powers to settled old grudges, one of which was with Mister Sinister. When they assaulted him in his underground base, they were surprised at how prepared he was for them. He managed to capture all of them and prevent them from using their powers to escape. The remaining members of the Extinction team decided to go in and save them. Unit was still pulling the strings on Danger and he was intrigued as to how Sinister managed to quell the Phoenix Five. He manipulated Danger into suggesting she enter Sinister's castle to find out. She acted as a suit of armor for Psylocke so the telepathic ninja could help sneak her in. Once in there, she began taking readings on how Sinister trapped the Phoenix Five. She beamed the data back to Unit, who was taken aback by how thorough Sinister had been and he ordered Danger to run. Her escape didn't go unnoticed but the distraction she provided enabled the Phoenix Five to break free and annihilate Sinister and his base. [Uncanny X-Men (2nd series) #15-17]

The Phoenix Five were eventually defeated but, during the carnage, the island of Utopia was severely damaged and began to sink. Danger returned to the brig one last time to complete her final task for Unit... setting him free. She expected him to wipe her mind but instead he told her he had developed a soft spot for her. He told her to study herself instead of studying humanity. As a final parting gift, he upgraded her security systems so that no one else would be able to take control of her, except him. Unit left without ever telling Danger what he really came to Earth for. As Danger fled Utopia, she opened up the cells of all the remaining prisoners so that they could also go free. [Uncanny X-Men (2nd series) #20]

The Extinction team scattered to the wind as they were at the top of the Avengers' most wanted list. Whilst Cyclops was detained in prison, Danger laid low for a while. However, when Magneto got the message to break Cyclops out, Danger and Magik joined him. They stormed the prison and set Cyclops free. Danger admitted she had taken a dislike to prisons and felt that she owed him. She parted ways with them, stating that she wanted to walk her own path. [AvX: Consequences #4-5]

Sadly, Danger wasn't quite done with prisons yet. She was soon captured by Nil, a member of the Thieves Guild with a gift for manipulating technology, and locked away on the Guild's island. Nil was awestruck with Danger's abilities and began using her to further his thieving lifestyle. When he stole a sum of money from Serval Industries, he gained the attention of the company's superhero team, X-Factor. On the team was Gambit, who was happened to be the head of the Thieves' Guild. When he realized that Nil had imprisoned his old teammate he released her. Unfortunately, Danger had no recollection of her life before being captured and instinctively lashed out at everyone around her. Gambit tried to convince her they knew each other, but she wouldn't listen. She continued her onslaught, even after Polaris, another X-Factor member, ripped her body apart. In the end it was a kiss from Gambit that unlocked her memories and put a stop to her rampage. When Gambit realized Danger had nowhere else to go he invited her to join their fledgling team, much to team-leader Polaris's surprise. [All-New X-Factor #3-4]

Whilst Gambit’s kiss had snapped her out of the conditioning that Nil had inflicted on her, Danger still didn’t feel like her old self. To remedy this, she boldly walked into Gambit’s room when he was asleep and propositioned him, much to his horror. She assumed that since his initial kiss had helped her before, then some more interaction would be beneficial. Gambit hastily declined her offer, leaving Danger confused as to what the big deal was. Later on, her sensors caught Quicksilver out when he tried to lie to her about his actions. He had been spying on Serval Industries and then meeting with Havok on the sly to inform him of the company’s intentions. Danger noted that his body readings indicated he had been running somewhere but he told her she was wrong. Soon after, Danger also spotted that Harrison Snow’s assistant Linda had Snow’s DNA on her in a way that could only come from intimate contact. Linda denied it as Harrison was married and once again Danger was told she was wrong.

Danger was then introduced to the head of one of Serval’s competitors and her sensors immediately detected he wasn’t human, despite his appearance. When she declared this and was yet again told she was wrong, this was the final straw for her. People had been telling her she was wrong all day and so she decided to show everyone the truth by plunging her hand through the man’s chest. Danger was vindicated when the man morphed into the Magus, the leader of alien race known as the Technarchy. X-Factor fought him off but they got another surprise when his son Warlock showed up and they teleported away. [All-New X-Factor #5]

The team decided to track down Warlock’s teammate Cypher to find out what was going on. Upon seeing him, Danger spotted a small piece of Warlock’s techno-organic structure lodged on Cypher’s heart. He told her she was wrong and so, tired of hearing this, she stabbed him in the chest and dug the piece of Warlock out. They used it to track him and Magus down to their facility, where they were apparently living in relative peace. Warlock ended up joining the team and immediately took a liking to Danger, although she was too oblivious to notice. [All-New X-Factor #6]

Warlock became quite nervous when talking to Danger and that wasn’t helped when she asked him why he always referred to himself as “self” instead of “I.” [All-New X-Factor #7]

After a few missions together, the team began to bond and so it was decided to call a press conference to show the world the all-new X-Factor team. Everyone had to wear a team uniform designed by Serval but Danger protested, as she had no need for one. Eventually, she was made to see that the uniform represented team solidarity and so she reluctantly wore it. Since Danger’s comment about his speech patterns, Warlock had been trying hard to take her advice. Upon seeing her in her new uniform, he complimented her and used the term “I” as well. Danger was impressed and she kissed him on the cheek to show her gratitude and admiration. After the press conference, Warlock plucked up the courage to ask Danger out on a date. She happily accepted but also managed to scare him slightly when she suggested having sex together. Danger’s matter-of-fact attitude was too much for the shy Warlock and he rushed away with embarrassment. [All-New X-Factor #12-13]

Danger had become fascinated with the sexual aspect of social interaction and she had been let down by Warlock’s naivety towards it. She set her sights on Polaris and asked her if she would like to engage in intercourse, which triggered a response similar to when she asked Gambit a few weeks before. When the Scarlet Witch showed up looking to spend time with Polaris, Danger decided to tag along and suggested they go to a renaissance faire. After an eventful day in which they saved a young girl from being murdered, the three women stopped at a bar for drinks. Danger asked the Scarlet Witch if she would like to have sex, much to the delight of Polaris, but was once again turned down. [All-New X-Factor #14]

When the citizens of the world had their moral compasses flipped thanks to the machinations of the Red Skull, it was up to X-Factor to help with the damage control. They managed to take control of the device that allowed the American president to fire nuclear missiles at anyone he wished. They took it back to their base but found they were soon under attack from a barrage of human operated Sentinels who wanted the device back. When Warlock was hurt by some of them, Danger saw red and finally put an end to the battle. Using her ability to control other machines, she over-rode the Sentinels’ controls and caused them to fire on each other. She was about to kill one of the human operators but was stopped by Polaris just in time. With the Sentinels down, the inversed X-Men decided to send in Longshot and Sunfire to apprehend the device for themselves. Danger took on Sunfire but bit off more than she could chew when he hit her with a powerful flame of jet, melting her body and taking her out of the fight. The two X-Men were defeated and the world was later put back to the way it was again. [All-New X-Factor #15-17]

Danger managed to repair herself again and, after things were back to normal, she continued on her quest to find a willing sexual partner. She eventually struck gold when she crept into Cypher’s room whilst he was in bed and found he was more than willing to comply with her wishes. Whilst he was guilt-ridden afterwards about betraying his friend Warlock, Danger was more than satisfied with the events. Cypher made her promise not to utter a word to anyone but, as they were travelling to their next mission, she let slip of their tryst. Warlock was furious but she firmly told him that he had made it clear he wasn’t interested in her and so she looked elsewhere. The team continued on with their mission with finding the missing body of a young girl who had recently died. They found the body but discovered they were too late, as it had been used to summon the ancient god Ammit the Soul Eater into existence. The team were out of their league as Ammit managed to take hold of their souls, leaving them defenseless. The one exception was Danger, who found she was immune to Ammit’s influence because she had no soul. She attacked Ammit and was so brutal in her assault that the god was forced to escape back to its own dimension. The team was happy that they managed to win but Danger felt rather subdued since she now had proof she had no soul. [All-New X-Factor #18-19]

Danger was noticeably depressed and so Warlock was tasked with talking to her and finding a way to cheer her up. Nonetheless, Danger remained rather sullen about not having a soul and so he did the only thing he could think of and he shared his own soul with her. As they joined their systems together, they finally took the next step and made love, right in front of the rest of the team. [All-New X-Factor #20]
