Shatterstar was first tied to Benjamin Russell in X-Force (1st series) #46. They physically bonded with one another in #61.

A time travelling Shatterstar was used by Arize as a template for his artificial biped, later named Longshot. In the present, Longshot's wife Dazzler gave birth to the infant Shatterstar. He was then transported into the future to be raised, before returning to the present as an adult.
