Pixie went back to Wales to live with her grandparents again but it became very apparent that something was off with Abergylid. People had been disappearing for a while and so Megan took it upon herself to look into it. After calling the X-Men for help, she soon discovered the culprits were N’Garai demons, though no one else in the town could see them. After killing one with her soul dagger, she tracked them down to their base in the mining tunnels beneath the town. She quickly realized she had bitten off more than she could chew when she was easily overcome by the creatures and captured. Thankfully, Cyclops and a group of X-Men arrived just in time to save her. Pixie explained the N’Garai were planning something deep in the mines and that she would help stop it. Ever since her supposed-father had died in the mines, she had been afraid of the tunnels but she mustered the courage and escorted the X-Men inside. Using the dark part of her soul, she located the evil creatures within and discovered the N’Garai lord Kierrok was alive and well and preparing for an invasion. As the X-Men fought the demons, Pixie took on Kierrok herself and used her wits to trick him into destroying the supporting beams of the cave. She teleported everyone out as the cave collapsed, burying the Kierrok and N’Garai portal under two miles of earth. Afterwards, Cyclops thanked her and told her she was late for the new semester at the X-Men’s new school in San Francisco. [X-Men: Pixies and Demons #1]

Pixie got off to a rough start in San Francisco when she was badly beaten by a group of men in Hellfire Club masks after she went to see Dazzler in concert. She managed to stagger back to the X-Men’s base where she collapsed in a bloody mess. As the senior X-Men dealt with the Hellfire Club goons, Pixie was kept in the medical bay until her wounds healed. Thankfully, a visit from Dazzler brightened her mood and she was even offered a spot on stage dancing at the next gig. She declined it though and considering quitting the team, as she went to hang out with some friends away from the X-Men. Pixie couldn’t relax after her ordeal and was looking for a way to vent her frustration.

In the meantime, the X-Men had tracked down the Hellfire Cult who had attacked her and began chasing the instigator Empath across the city. When Pixie discovered this, she caught up with Empath and viciously attacked him. He was under the influence of the Red Queen at the time and his powers were incredibly enhanced, enough to take down all the other X-Men who had come near him. Pixie was determined though and she pushed through his emotional manipulation and stabbed him in the forehead with her soul dagger. With her anger dealt with, she took Dazzler up on her offer and danced with her at the next concert. [Uncanny X-Men (1st series) #500-503]

When the Skrulls attacked Earth, they hit every major city they could but were shocked to find San Francisco was now being protected by the X-Men. The mutants fought back and kept the Skrulls on their toes and Pixie’s teleportation spell helped considerably. She was able to take small squads of X-Men anywhere in the city at a moment’s notice and provided an equally swift escape too. She was so good at her job that she gained the attention of the invaders, who sent a Super-Skrull to capture her for dissection. Unfortunately for the Super-Skrull, Megan was acting as bait and he was killed so the X-Men’s science team could analyze him. The Skrulls were eventually defeated and the people of San Francisco commended the X-Men for their protection. [Secret Invasion: X-Men #1-4]

Pixie was being used more and more in X-Men missions and so Nightcrawler decided to personally see to her training, as they were both teleporters. In one Danger Room session, Nightcrawler brought up the subject of Pixie’s soul dagger and the fact she seemed to become noticeably different when she used it. The young girl started to get angry by the mere mention of it, as she was reminded of her time in Limbo and the deal she had to make to save her friends. Losing control of her senses, she pulled the dagger out of her chest and stabbed Nightcrawler with it, knocking him out. Snapping back, Pixie was mortified by what she had just done and it took a while for Beast to calm her down. He convinced her to pull the dagger out of Kurt’s chest but, when she did, she pulled a giant sword out with it.

A few years before, Nightcrawler had been entrusted with looking after Magik’s original soulsword and it was absorbed into his body for safe keeping. The moment the soulsword left Kurt’s body, Magik immediately sensed it and teleported into the Danger Room. Pixie saw the bloodstone amulet around Magik’s neck and realized the missing fragment of her soul was in it. Megan used the soulsword and tried to fight Magik but the sorceress was too skilled and she easily defeated the young girl. When she regained consciousness, Pixie discovered Magik and the soulsword had gone again and she was furious. She was ready to charge after Magik alone until Nightcrawler told her they would go as a team to get her soul back. Teleporting to Limbo, they landed in the middle of a horde of demons and had to cut their way through until they could see Belasco’s castle.

Unbeknownst to the X-Men, Belasco’s daughter Witchfire had made a power play for Limbo and acquired Pixie’s soul fragment from Magik. When her fragment joined with the other fragments of souls Witchfire had collected, Pixie felt an incredible emptiness suddenly grow inside her and felt compelled to teleport to Witchfire’s castle to confront her. Distracted by mirrors reflecting a hideously twisted version of herself she might become without a soul, Pixie was surprised and captured by her foe. Witchfire proceeded to make Pixie's horrific vision come true by removing another fragment of the young girl's soul. Pixie watched helplessly as Witchfire used the completed bloodstone amulet to open a portal to a realm where the omnipotent Elder Gods resided. Fortune changed with the arrival of Magik, who removed the amulet from Witchfire and convinced Pixie to use both of their soul weapons together to remove one of the soul fragments from the amulet and stop the otherworldly invasion. The plan worked but Pixie wasn’t in the mood for celebrating as she had now lost another part of her soul thanks to Magik. [X-Infernus #1-4]

When the Sisterhood attacked the X-Men’s base in the middle of the night, Pixie was the one who figured out how they managed to get in. Going down to the brig where Empath was being kept, she confronted the man and deduced he was manipulating the entire compound with his powers. Stabbing him with the soul dagger again, she knocked him out and helped the X-Men regain their senses. [Uncanny X-Men (1st series) #509-510]

Despite moving to San Francisco, the X-Men’s struggle against persecution hadn’t eased up; in fact, it seemed to have gotten worse. Simon Trask was campaigning in favor of Proposition X, a ballot proposition that would place restrictions on mutant’s right to procreate. Pixie, like many other mutants, protested the law and became involved in the rioting that followed. When Norman Osborn and his Dark X-Men became involved, battle lines were drawn between the X-Men and Osborn’s forces. Pixie was essential to the X-Men’s plans, as she was able to teleport groups across the city to calm the riots and tackle the Dark X-Men and Avengers. In the final battle, Pixie teamed up with X-23 and Armor to take down Daken, who vastly underestimated the pint-sized ladies. When the dust settled, the X-Men had won but were forced to relocate to the new island of Utopia just off the coast of the city. [Utopia crossover]

Soon after, Pixie received an invite to an exclusive Dazzler concert and she decided to drag some of her friends with her. They ended up in a dark and dingy club and, before they knew what was going on, they were captured by a horde of demons. They were force fed some of Pixie’s hallucinogenic dust and became trapped in an illusion that they were all normal kids at a high school. Pixie was the most popular girl at school and her life was bliss but the cracks quickly began to show in the false reality. It was the demon Saturnine who had orchestrated everything and he used Pixie’s weak state to trick her into calling out for her mother. He wanted Pixie’s dagger and her mother’s powerful magic for himself and was using the young girl to get it. Across the realms, Megan’s fairy mother heard her child’s call for help and began searching for her, recruiting her daughter’s half-sisters, the two Lady Masterminds in the process. Megan’s mother, along with some of the X-Men, all descended on the place where Pixie was being held but, when they arrived, they found Saturnine and his demon minions. Pixie was still under the influence of her own dust and was being manipulated by Saturnine. The demon ordered her to steal her mother’s magic using her soul dagger and Pixie was struggling to resist.

When she confronted her mother, Pixie was stunned to learn about her true heritage involving Mastermind and the fact she had two super-villain sisters. Emma Frost came forward to help Pixie but the young girl punched her, briefly knocking her out. Reluctantly, Pixie’s mother handed over her magic, causing Pixie’s dagger turned into a giant soulsword. Pixie then gave the sword to Saturnine, who subsequently slaughtered his own army in a display of power. Prompted by Psylocke, the demon tried to absorb the sword into his own body but ended up killing himself instead. Pixie then revealed that she had snapped out of her illusion upon seeing that the X-Men came to rescue her and had been tricking Saturnine all along. Pixie and her new family had cast an illusion over a normal sword, causing Saturnine to see it as a magical soulsword. Pixie apologized to Emma for hitting her as she was afraid she would have inadvertently stopped the illusion if she realized the Mastermind sisters were using their powers.

When X-23 then went to attack her sisters, Pixie quickly teleported them away in a brief fit of sisterly compassion. Afterwards, Megan spoke to her mother about the fact her father was a villain and she had been lied to all her life. The two came to an understanding but, as quickly as she had re-entered Megan’s life, the mysterious fairy teleported away again. Megan returned with the X-Men to contemplate recent events and what it meant for her future. [X-Men: Pixie Strikes Back #1-4]
