The secret surveillance network that Warlock created was about to come in handy when he and Doug stumbled upon a deadly scheme. Months before, when Krakoa was being established, the island grew a hollow tumor that allowed anyone who stepped in it to be blind to all telepaths and sensors. Doug had given it to Xavier, who promptly used it to establish a secret base on the island. What Xavier was unaware of was that Warlock could monitor what was going on inside, and he and Doug were surprised to discover Moira MacTaggert living in it. Moira had supposedly been killed years before, but it turned out she was actually a mutant who could reset reality upon her death. She had faked her death and was now pulling strings from the shadows, alongside Xavier and Magneto. Warlock and Doug were happy to simply monitor the situation but, when Moira plotted to kill the newly resurrected Destiny, they decided it was time for action. In a surprising twist, Mystique and Destiny struck first, kidnapping Moira and depowering her so reality wouldn’t be reset. When they attempted to kill Moira, they were disturbed by Warlock, Doug and Bei, who didn’t want to see her killed, despite the threat she posed. The group forced Mystique to let Moira go free, but they implanted some of Warlock’s tech in her so that she could be kept tabs on. [Inferno (2nd series) #1-4]

Now that his presences was known to everyone, Warlock was able to go on missions, such as when Wolverine needed help rescuing a group of mutants that had been kidnapped by A.I.M. [X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic #22-25]

Not long after, Warlock got the devastating news that his father had been murdered by Nimrod. Even though the two’s relationship had been fraught in the past, they had parted on good terms, which made the loss especially hard for Warlock. [Legion of X #1]

Shortly after, Legion created a small pocket of astral plane called the Alter, accessible by anyone on Krakoa, and it was primarily used by Nightcrawler and his team, dubbed the Legionnaires. One day Warlock noticed some strange "astral blooms" floating across Krakoa and determined they were originating from the Alter. Warlock and Doug travelled to the Alter and explained to Legion that the blooms were in fact the ashes of his father and were likely to be functioning like spores on behalf of the Technarchy. Knowing how dangerous the technological beings could be, Legion gathered up all the blooms and took it to the astral space outside of the alter.

The sudden concentration of blooms caused an astral form of the technarchy to appear, proving Warlock right to be concerned. However, with no spores inside the Alter, the trio were not concerned about the Techncarchy as was no longer a direct threat to them anymore. As they left the astral plane, none of them noticed something attach itself to Warlock as he walked through the gateway to Krakoa.

It didn't take long for Warlock to feel the effect of the stowaway, and due to the nervous system across Krakoa, it had access to every part of the island. Warlock and Cypher's psychic bond began to break down, and without his friend's powers to help him, Warlock slipped further under the influence of the interloper. When a team of Legionnaire's discovered a disorientated Cypher, they quickly deduced something was wrong with Warlock and set out to help him. When they found him they realised it was Nimrod who had taken over him, and now the malevolent robot had access to the heart of Krakoa. Using Warlock like a puppet, Nimrod was able to unleash the astral Technarchy on the Alter, and as a result begin to infect the citizens of Krakoa with the TO virus. Using the infected mutants, Nimrod fashioned a babel spire to summon the Phalanx to the island in a bid to finish off all the mutants.

By now Warlock was interwoven into Krakoa itself and Nimrod was using him to creating organic sentinels out of the island. Cypher and the Legionnaires found Warlock, but he was barely able to fight against Nimrod. The malicious robot had adapted Warlock's body and created a crystal core within him, and with a brief moment of clarity Warlock begged his friend to pull it out. Cypher knew that by pulling the core he would kill Nimrod but also lose Warlock in the process, and he simply wasn't able to. It was left up to one of the Legionnaires, Forget-me-not, to sacrifice his life by yanking the core out of Warlock, creating a huge explosion. Nimrod was purged from Warlock's system and the threat to Krakoa ceased immediately, but the damage to Warlock was extreme. Cypher cradled the motionless husk of his friend, but there was no signs of life. [Legion of X #6-10]

Whilst Warlock lost his life in the battle, his death might not have been in vain as his merging with Nimrod had a surprising side effect on the malevolent robot. When the mysterious Mother Righteous approached Nimrod, she showed him all that was and could be, and in doing so revealed that Warlock's soul now resided in him.  [X-Men: Before the Fall - Sons of X #1]

It remains to be seen if a part of Warlock truely lies within Nimrod, but if it does it could have major ramifications for the robot's plans for the mutants of Krakoa.
