X-Corporation Mumbai

Membership: Thornn II, Proudstar, Feral, Sunfire

First appearance: New X-Men #133

Before

  • Shortly after X-Force faked their own deaths, another mutant group appeared in the media, calling themselves X-Force. Domino, Cannonball, Proudstar and Meltdown returned and opposed the new X-Force for misusing their name but, apparently, in the meantime the newcomers had bought the legal rights to the name. [X-Force #113, 117]
  • Feral and Thornn, the two Morlock sisters, have always been at odds with each other, especially after it became clear that Feral murdered their mother and abusive stepfather. Although she was sent to prison, Feral managed to escape and has been part of several villain teams since then, most recently the Hellions II.
  • The Japanese Sunfire is a loner, who time and again turned down the X-Men’s offer to fully join them. He was targeted by the revamped Weapon X program for recruitment but, when he refused, they shot him out of the sky and left him for dead. [Weapon X: The Draft – Wild Child]
  • During the time Xavier’s evil twin, Cassandra Nova, controlled the Professor’s body, she publicly outed him as a mutant and exposed the secret of the school.

Chronology

New X-Men #133: Xavier and Phoenix’s visiting of the Mumbai office is overshadowed by an assassination attempt on the Professor’s life. X-Corporation Mumbai members Feral, Proudstar and Thornn help to capture the would-be sniper, a very demented Lilandra, who still believes Xavier to be Cassandra Nova. Phoenix later gives Feral and Thornn a tutorial on how to use the Cerebra device, while Wolverine and the Afghani mutant Dust he rescued are resting inside the office.

Afterwards

  • Dust was brought to Xavier’s mansion in Westchester, where she received training in her powers. [New X-Men #138]
  • Asides from his duties in the X-Corporation, Sunfire still works together with the Japanese government. [X-Men Unlimited #39]
