The Posse eventually drifted apart, and Domino found herself renewing older alliances. Cable was murdered trying to protect a member of the time-traveling original X-Men, leading many former members of X-Force to gather at the X-Mansion at a summit held by the current X-Men team. The Houndmaster from the future called Ahab was hunting the O5 to cause a temporal paradox which would imperil mutantkind, and so Kitty Pryde ordered the O5 isolated and protected by different units. Domino took charge of guarding the young Jean Grey, along with her old comrades Cannonball, Boom Boom, Shatterstar and Warpath. Jean went with Domino because her telepathy informed her X-Force intended to hunt down Cable’s killer. Surprisingly, it appeared Cable killed himself – a time-traveling teenage version of Cable “retired” his older self for failing to maintain the integrity of the timeline and sending the original X-Men home. [Extermination #1-5]
Ahab was defeated, and the original X-Men finally returned to their proper place in time, but Kid Cable fled before Domino and the others were satisfied with his motives. X-Force’s continued hunt for Kid Cable caused them to miss a major gathering of X-Figures in conflict with Nate Grey, which led to the apparent death of most of the surviving X-Men. [Uncanny X-Men (5th series) #9-10] Domino’s team found themselves without back-up or support as they tracked Kid Cable to Transia in Eastern Europe. They discovered Ahab in league with the Transian military, but were also forced to deal with Stryfe and the Mutant Liberation Army, a younger version of the Chaos-Bringer coming back in time from the same era as his Kid Cable counterpart. Fighting against Stryfe at both ends of the timeline, Domino had to reacquaint herself with one of her least favorite people, Cable’s mentor Blaquesmith. Rachel Grey was saved from Ahab, the Transian mutants were saved from Stryfe, and Domino was left with the begrudging conclusion that Kid Cable was a true precursor (and successor) to the man she had known and loved. [X-Force (5th series) #1-10]
Charles Xavier and Magneto would soon advance mutantkind on the world stage, building an island nation on Krakoa. They used revolutionary drugs grown on the unique soil to leverage their way into the United Nations and a position of power in human commerce and politics. Xavier expected some form of response from humanity, and commissioned Domino as a spy to check on concerning leads he uncovered. Neena managed to get herself in a room with Xeno, a cult-like group of anti-mutant spymasters. Unfortunately, a genetic purity test left her exposed, and Domino was captured. She was tortured and horribly mutilated at the direction of their nameless leader, the Man with the Peacock Tattoo. Skin grafts stripped from Domino were used by a new era of Reavers to beat Krakoa’s genetic sensors and allow them to infiltrate the island and assassinate Xavier. Only the new mutant technology in the Resurrection Five allowed him to escape death permanently. [X-Force (6th series) #1]
Wolverine, of course, was first out the gates to seek answers and revenge. His heavy-handed approach was assisted by the Omega-level telepath arrogantly named Kid Omega, and they tracked Krakoa’s attackers back to the disguised factory near Seoul where Domino was being held. Dom had lost an eye and most of the skin on the right side of her body to her mutilators, but Kid Omega supported her telekinetically long enough to escape. In the aftermath, FORCE Protocols were engaged for Krakoa. Xavier and Magneto commissioned Domino, Kid Omega and Wolverine to act as deniable field operatives, operating at the direction of intelligence services from Beast, Marvel Girl and Sage. “Kill No Man” was one of the three founding laws of Krakoa, but warfare in defense of one’s nation demanded different standards. X-Force was reborn. [X-Force (6th series) #2-3]
Domino was fitted with bio-engineered Krakoan tissue to cover the damaged portions of her skin and body. She and X-Force made the acquaintance of Forge, who had furthered his study of organic technology to create weapons made-to-order from Krakoan biomass. For Domino, a neuro-gauntlet able to morph into different weapons as needed in the field. When a group of special operations agents started targeting Krakoan drug manufacturing sites, X-Force wasdeployed to stop them. Domino needed vengeance after what she was put through by Xeno, but these Mercs were not the same as the artificially-grown Reavers who invaded Krakoa. Domino repeatedly ignored orders from Beast over comms to avoid killing the targets, and only relented as the last of them pled for his life at her feet. [X-Force (6th series) #4-5]
More than just unsettled by her experience, Domino started to feel as if something was off about her luck. Working with Sage, she confirmed a global trend of “lucky” assassinations against mutant supporters and activists. Xeno had moved beyond the skin grafts and somehow created an agent drawing from the same well of “luck” as Domino. Sage extrapolated the next likely target was giving a speech in Tahoe. Domino intervened and saved the target’s life, but the agent had a lucky break and escaped. Domino eventually tracked and eliminated this agent, but her hunch was it wasn’t the only product of Xeno’s mutilation of her.
In her downtime, Domino had trouble letting go of her trauma. Staying restless and active evenlate into the night in paradise, she found Colossus wandering under the moonlight as well. Piotr had also been injured, fighting to help mutant refugees flee from Russia, one of the few openly antagonistic nations to Krakoa. The former lovers bonded over their shared trauma, and Colossus soon came to Domino’s aid in the field. Sage tracked Xeno to a mobile lab on the Trans-Siberian rail line. Piotr knew the terrain, so he joined Neena in destroying the flesh factory replicating her genes. Colossus was forced to stop the train personally, mortally wounding Domino as well as her doppelgangers. As she lay dying, she told Colossus she wanted to remember everything about her trauma when the Five resurrected her. [X-Force (6th series) #7-8]
After being resurrected by the Five, Domino did not remember everything about her trauma. She described it as a remote sense of awareness but being resurrected had allowed her to move past the innate sense of hurt and pain that had been burdening her. Sage and Wolverine bothquestioned Domino about this change in her behavior. While they appreciated that she was feeling unburdened now, they had both understood that Dom intended to weaponize her pain and continue using it to drive her in missions. Domino was defensive and said that while she didn’t remember the decision, she must have changed her mind and decided to be reborn without the trauma. [X-Force (6th series) #9-10]
Domino reached out to Colossus in an effort to recruit him to X-Force operations full-time. Piotr preferred to return to his former life as a farmer, working the fields in the Savage Land to produce Krakoan flowers. He only became more adamant after a disasterous encounter with Beast. X-Force uncovered evidence that Mikhail Rasputin was behind the threats coming from Russia. Domino and Wolverine went to the Savage Land to ask Piotr to come in for questioning about his allegiance, but Beast went the extra mile and placed Piotr in handcuffs while parading him before the population of Krakoa. After Jean Grey's mental probes showed Colossus was innocent, he returned to the Savage Land, and any chance of him joining Neena in the field seemed to be dashed. [X-Force (6th series) #11-12]
Domino remained active with X-Force, dealing with Krakoan tumors, uprisings among the Terra Verdans, and other telefloronic threats. [X-Force (6th series) #15-22] The field team also made repeated failed attempts to eliminate Nimrod at the Orchis space habitat. [Inferno (2nd series) #1] She also briefly teamed up with Kid Cable again, helping the younger Nate investigate children being kidnapped by Stryfe. Domino played her cards close, but dealing with this version of Cable affected her deeply, and she chose to keep her distance from him after their mission. [Cable (4th series) #7-8] Still, she returned for Kid Cable's final mission when he tracked Stryfe down. The elder Cable was resurrected at Kid Cable's recommendation, and the kid returned to his place in the timestream while the Nate that Domino knew and had loved took his place on Krakoa. [Cable (4th series) #11-12]
Although Domino and X-Force continued to serve Krakoa, cracks have begun to appear in the unity between the field team and the intelligence team. Beast is more willing than ever to sacrifice and exploits his "assets" for "the greater good", oblivious to how he's losing the trust of Domino and his team. [X-Force (6th series) Annual #1] Perhaps the unpredictable addition of Domino's occasional friend and partner Deadpool with make things run more smoothly...or tip X-Force onto an entirely different path. [Wolverine (7th series) #23]
