Wild Child continued to work for Romulus and received packages of polaroid photos taken of Wolverine, who was suffering as a prisoner in a pit. [Wolverine (3rd series) #56] Wild Child then found Wolverine after he escaped from his prison and was badly weakened in battle against Omega Red. Wild Child took Wolverine to an old iron works in central Russia, where he suspended Wolverine over a pit of molten iron. His intention was to prove himself as Romulus' successor by killing anyone who stood in his way. However, before Wild Child could finish off Wolverine, Omega Red crashed into the factory and the two fought, enabling Wolverine to escape. Wild Child noticed Logan running away and vowed to find him but he didn't get the chance. Instead, he found himself at the mercy of Omega Red, who hurled Wild Child into the vat of molten iron. [Wolverine: Origins #38-39]

According to Shaman, in the afterlife all deceased members of Alpha Flight were gathered together. However, although several notable Alphans returned to life, Wild Child was not among them. [Chaos War: Alpha Flight #1]

It wasn't until sometime later, when the mutant nation of Krakoa was established and the secrets of mutant resurrection were revealed, that Kyle was returned to life. However, Kyle started acting feral shortly after his return, running down a boar in front of a group of children and clawing one of the youths when they tried to help the pig. Kyle was placed in a secure room within the Healing Gardens where he was monitored by Cecilia Reyes and Sage. The two administered a pill twice daily that suppressed Kyle’s ravenous tendencies, similar to medication he used to take while working with Alpha Flight. However, Kyle had been burying the pills rather than taking them and lashed out at the women caring for him. Kyle wasn't the only mutant on Krakoa with troubles and the Quiet Council agreed to Sinister putting together a team of outcasts who could be sent on assignments where they could express their natural, more savage tendencies. The team was called the Hellions and, although Sinister had oversight of the group, Kwannon would lead them on missions. This caused trouble for Wild Child, whose animalistic instincts could not allow him to accept an alpha that could not physically dominate him. [Hellions #1]

The Hellions' first assignment took the group to the abandoned Essex Home in Nebraska where they were sent to destroy Sinister's old cloning lab. The group was set upon by Madelyne Pryor, who had been hiding out there, experimenting on Sinister's old Marauders. Rather than battle the zombie-like Marauders, Wild Child hid in the shadows and waited until the battle had ended to strike out at the injured Kwannon, telling her that she was too weak to lead the team. Wild Child was no match for Kwannon, who shoved her psi-blade into his mind. However, this act only made him even more savage, as his lower functions took over his body. They fought hand to hand until Wild Child's neck was snapped by Kwannon. Surprisingly, he didn't die, his healing factor keeping him alive. He recovered and thanked Kwannon, telling her that knowing who is in charge calmed his mind. Wild Child worked alongside Kwannon to free the other Hellions from Madelyne Pryor and, later on Krakoa, followed her around and sat at her heels. [Hellions #2-4]

When the nation of Krakoa was forced into a contest by Otherworld's Saturnyne, the Quiet Council agreed to send the Hellions to Amenth, a region of Arakko, to try to stop the contest before it even began. The Hellions were warned that, if they died in Otherworld, which they had to pass through to get to Arakko, they would not be able to be resurrected. The mission involved a lot of travel by foot or horse, during which Wild Child remained at Kwannon's side. Once on Arakko, though, the team discovered that Sinister had tricked them. He only wanted to learn the secrets of Arakko's mutants and started to collect what genes and data he could, while the Hellions battled some of the local mutants, a group known as the Locus Vile. The Hellions were quickly overwhelmed, with two of them being killed on Arakko. So that the others could escape, Kwannon asked Wild Child to cover their exit. Wild Child did as Kwannon requested and blocked the Locus Vile from getting to Kwannon and the others as they escaped through the gate. His screams could be heard as he was killed by the strange Arakkii mutants. [Hellions #5-6]

Wild Child was promptly resurrected on Krakoa and, like his teammates who died on Arakko, he returned somewhat different. Not only was he more muscular, he appeared more focused, more intense than usual, and even spoke less than previously. When his teammate John Greycrow asked him how he felt, Wild Child revealed that he had a fire to hunt, find a she-wolf and grow his pack. When the Hellions were sent on their next assignment, they found themselves at the Right facility. Wild Child engaged the enemy immediately, savagely attacking several Right officers, wanting them to bleed, only to discover that they were robots. Wild Child followed his teammate Nanny, who also died on Arakko, deeper into the Right facility, where they briefly discussed Amenth not being done with them yet. [Hellions #7-8]

Wild Child's quest to find a mate and start a pack was not off to a good start, as Kwannon showed no interest in him other than platonic. Like the rest of the Hellions, Wild Child was captured by Arcade and placed in an illusion created by Mastermind, where he was the alpha of a pack that included Wolverine and Sabretooth. However, the illusions began to change and Wild Child found his pack turning against him. He reunited with his teammates, and Arcade was defeated. [Hellions #9-11]

When most of Krakoa were attending the extravagant Hellfire Gala, the less-than desirable members of the Hellions were not invited – including Wild Child. That didn't stop them from gate-crashing the event, however, and things quickly got personal for Kyle when he saw his ex-girlfriend, Aurora, at the Gala. He asked her to dance but she told him that, when they were together, she was in a difficult place in her life and declined to dance with him. Upset, Kyle joined Kwannon and Greycrow at the bar and demanded drinks, while lamenting the fact that his pack will not grow. Greycrow tried to encourage Kyle to prove to Aurora that he would be good for her now. However, when Kyle went to talk to Aurora, he found her with Daken, her new boyfriend. Wild Child prepared to confront Daken and lashed out at him, until Greycrow pulled Wild Child away. This led to a misunderstanding and the Hellions began fighting with others at the Gala. The Hellions were then teleported away from the party. [Hellfire Gala]

The events of Amenth soon haunted the Hellions when the Locus Vile appeared on Krakoa, with the help of the Sinister clone. Tarn the Uncaring wanted to retrieve what was taken from him and, while Wild Child, Nanny and Orphan Maker lashed out against the Locus Vile, Tarn soon arrived and quickly took back the changes that were made to Wild Child upon his resurrection. This reduced him to a scared, subservient being, who hid behind Kwannon. [Hellions #13-14]

Events began to spiral out of control for the Hellions, constantly manipulated by Sinister and dismissed by the Quiet Council. At least Kyle had Kwannon – until she prepared to leave Krakoa. Wild Child was scared and confused when Kwannon aggressively told him to go away and not to come back. Kyle ran to Greycrow, who was preparing to kill Empath, and warned Greycrow that, if he did, he would get thrown in the hole. However, before long, the Hellions were called to work together again and Kyle quickly ran to Kwannon's side when she called him. The Hellions fought the Right, with devastating consequences as one of their teammates, Orphan Maker, killed human civilians. The Hellions found themselves on trial when they returned to Krakoa. Sinister wanted the Hellions all to be thrown in the Pit, however Wild Child was spared from this fate. Instead, he perhaps suffered a worse fate. When he was returned to the Healing Gardens, he was given two choices by Dr Cecilia Reyes – to continue a life of violence, or to take a pill and gain clarity. Kyle swallowed a pill and returned to his cell in the Healing Gardens. [Hellions #16-18]

What's next for the feral mutant and how he will cope being separated from Kwannon remains to be seen.
