Aside from spinoff series such as New Mutants and X-Factor, this is the first secondary X-Men title. As the established contemporary title, Uncanny X-Men, had begun as simply "X-Men," this title is X-Men (2nd series).
Title changed names several times during its run. Originally begun as just "X-Men," it changed to "New X-Men" with #114 (becoming the first series of that name). Title reverted back to simply "X-Men" with #157 and later changed with #208 to "X-Men Legacy" (the first series of that name) and remained with that name until its final issue, #275. The third series to be called X-Men began in 2010, two years before the cancellation of the series that was originally X-Men (2nd series).
3 numbered annuals, followed by 6 annuals numbered by the years in which they were published (1995 to 2000). Beause the previous X-Men series had annuals, this series of annuals are considered by this site to be X-Men Annual (2nd series).
Special numbered issues include a Wizard Magazine #1/2, a #minus1 and a "point 1" issue (#260.1).
