As information on Onslaught was among the most requested features to be added to the site, we made that the theme for our fifth Event Month. In our first brainstorming on what kind of features should be part of the concept, we came up with a multitude of topics, either directly connected to Onslaught or related to his „parents“, Xavier and Magneto. However, at one point we realized it became too much. Not only was Marvel producing more X-titles than ever, resulting in more time being devoted to keep the site up to date, but also some private matters in our contributers‘ lives got in the way. Therefore, we cut down the Event concept, making it the „Xavier / Onslaught Month“, with the Magneto aspects to be used in some later idea.
Just like back then with the AoA Event, we had a rather detailed Crossover Entry for Onslaught, every few days another page being published along with the corresponding issue summaries. In between we had some other articles and spotlight entries. The Xavier/Onslaught Month ran from mid-May to mid-June 2005 and was brought to you by Archangel, Binaryan, Daytripper, Elaine in Waurika, Fantomex, Iceman, Homer Jay, Douglas Mangum, Monolith, Redguard, Ruth, Christopher Sampson and myself, Peter Luzifer.
Onslaught Crossover Entry
The entire Event kicked off with a short Introduction, only to be followed by a detailed Read Order. Another page gave an overview of the Involved Characters, and as described above, the five page long Crossover Description was released bit by bit. Finally, the repercussions and lasting effects of Onslaught were summed up in the Aftermath article.
Spotlight On...
Two new spotlights were published during the event. Naturally there had to be an entry on Professor X, and for all those who were disappointed that we excluded the Magneto-centered topics, we did an entry on the next best thing, his clone, Joseph
Merging Minds
Quite a number of other articles were added during the event. To our Villains – what makes them tick subsection, we added Cassandra Complexities, the story of Xavier’s twin sister Cassandra Nova. The Xavier Protocols describe another dark hour in Professor X’s history.
More character-driven topics were handled in Flipsides of the same coin, a comparative analysis of the Xavier’s and Magneto’s dreams, and the Road to Onslaught, a psychological study of Xavier’s dark side.
X marks the spot
It’s been ages since we had a new entry in our site’s atlas section, and the Xavier Institute made the perfect choice to go along with the event idea.
Issue Summaries
Other than the issue summaries that belong to the crossover, we also had new entries for the four-issue limited series X-Men and the Micronauts, as it was an early incident of Xavier’s evil side gaining sentience.
