No More Mutants? House of M To tie with the release of Marvel’s line-wide crossover, House of M, we decided to change the logo to match. One of the challenges with doing these logos once a theme has been decided is finding suitable imagery that can be used. Several different promotional images were tried, including using the Scarlet Witch image that appears in the add-on, as the main image. However, in the end, it was settled on the main image featuring all the main players and the House of M logo overlaid as a foreshadowing of what was to come. No More Mutants With the House of M drawing to a close and Decimation about to hit the X-Men titles, we decided to run an interim logo of the very moment the world of the X-Men changed. At the time of releasing this logo, the panel used for the logo was potentially spoiler material, hence the images was edited so only the words “no more” could be seen. Decimation Our resident news hound, Trevor Cates, had organized a series of interviews and previews of the upcoming Decimation titles so the logo was replaced to match the mini news event. During the production of this logo, again several images were tried, including using images of the Sentinels. However, as we had previously used Sentinels for the teaser logo for the Onslaught Event Month, the Deadly Genesis cover was opted to become the main image, with popular mutants affected by the Decimation in the add on part. A very Merry Christmas After the quite dramatic Decimation logo, we felt it would be an opportunity to lighten up with a festive logo. Oh alright, it was just an excuse to use the Beast dressed-as-Santa image. Back to the core As it had been a while since we had featured the cast of Uncanny X-Men in the logo, we decided that coming into the New Year it would be an ideal opportunity to do so. Plus Chris Bachalo’s cover artwork screamed new logo at me! Wolverine Event Month? For the First of April, we ran the Wolverine Event Month… or rather the Wolverine April Fool’s Day joke. To make it look like we were actually running a Wolverine Event Month, the site’s logo needed to match. The main image used was actually originally intended to be used as part of the decimation logo, however it was dropped at the time because Wolverine had been given his own logo during the previous year. It should also be noted that Wolverine is so damn popular he is the only character to appear on multiple logos all by himself. Leshiababe’s choice Next to one of our semi-regular spotlight polls, we ran a special side contest that was eventually solved by the message board poster known as Leshiababe. Her prize was that she could pick another character besides the poll winner to receive an entry in our spotlight section. Her choice was Alpha Flight’s Aurora and, once the entry was completed and released, we celebrated this unique incident with a logo displaying the character in her many different incarnations.
