Alpha Flight continued to serve the great nation of Canada and the world from dangerous threats, one of the most dangerous being the deadly Wendigo outbreak that was spread by eating human flesh. This had been orchestrated by the Great Beast Tanaraq, who once again sought to leave the Realm of the Great Beasts and take over Earth. On this dangerous mission, Aurora's newfound peace seemed to have been disrupted again, for she was reunited with Northstar and the two were sent to the U.S. / Canadian Border with the injured Talisman and a girl whom Northstar had rescued. En route, Jeanne-Marie appeared dominant, revealing that she had been told about Northstar's marriage. Arriving at the Border, Jeanne-Marie was less than impressed to learn that she was to be used as bait to lure Wendigo over onto U.S. soil, where the transformed Canadians would be freed from the Wendigo curse. During the chaos, Aurora and Northstar were briefly transformed into Wendigo themselves. Fortunately, this resulted in no lasting effects after the combined might of the X-Men and Alpha Flight defeated Tanaraq and his plans. [Amazing X-Men (2nd series) #10-12]

Eventually, the Alpha Flight name was re-purposed for the Alpha Flight Space Program, which was positioned in low orbit above the Earth. Along with Sasquatch and Puck, Aurora began to work under the command of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel. Aurora maintained a calm and helpful exterior, proving efficient in her duties and adapting well to the technology she was required to use on missions. Aurora took an interest in alien languages, assisting Lieutenant Kawasaki in deciphering the ancient Satori language during the encounter with the Satori. Aurora also displayed no trouble using her light powers without Northstar. However, not all was well, as there still appeared to be some unresolved issues between her and Sasquatch. [Captain Marvel (9th series) #1-5]

Life aboard the Alpha Flight Space Station seemed to agree with Aurora, and she even started to build a friendship with Captain Marvel. Aurora took Captain Marvel’s side when a new philosophical argument lead to a second civil war among the super-hero community. When a new Inhuman named Ulysses with precognitive abilities became known, Captain Marvel wished to use his visions to prevent tragedies. Believing that no one should be punished for crimes they had not yet committed, Iron Man opposed her, especially so when the result of one such mission was the death of War Machine, who happened to be both Iron Man’s best friend and Captain Marvel's lover. The Alpha Flight Space Station was on full alert during this conflict but Aurora herself was at Captain Marvel's side when the captain assembled a group of allies to arrest Iron Man and took part in the battle against Iron Man and his allies. [Captain Marvel (9th series) #6-7, Civil War II #4-5]

Acting on one of Ulysses’ visions, Captain Marvel assigned Aurora, Sasquatch and Puck to return to Canada to act as duly appointed legal representatives. Their mission was to arrest Piledriver and his son, Excavator, as in three days, Excavator was destined kill his father. When Aurora and her teammates met with the Canadian Prime Minister, they were given some stark words about what they were doing. Aurora explained that they believed in Captain Marvel's course of actions but, when they departed the Prime Minister's office, Aurora was told to think hard about the choices she was making. [Civil War II: Choosing Sides #5]

When Captain Marvel learned of a man called LeClerc who would summon the Great Beast Kolomaq in an attempt to bring about a new ice age, Aurora objected to his arrest. Knowing that LeClerc struggled with a personality disorder, Aurora thought that, by arresting him before he committed a crime, they might trigger the crime itself. However, when Kolomaq did appear, Alpha Flight dealt with the situation and saved the world yet again. Nevertheless, Alpha Flight's Board, consisting of Henry Gyrich and Philippe Beaulieu, were not happy with this. They warned Captain Marvel that they could not have Aurora causing trouble with their goals, either because of her personality problems, or because she was a mutant.

Three days later, after arresting the criminal faction Mutant Force, Aurora, Captain Marvel and the others were set upon by Magneto, who was furious that Captain Marvel had been spying on him. Personally returning the spy drones she had sent, Magneto told Aurora that he was disappointed in her, siding with this “predictive justice” regime when mutants were being arrested. Aurora, however, defended herself, assuring Magneto that she was able to differentiate between her interests and his. Aurora's troubles continued when Captain Marvel learned that someone was giving warnings to those on the predictive justice watch, and Ulysses had a vision of Aurora fighting with Captain Marvel. Aurora was more than put out when Captain Marvel accused her of being the one to give advance warnings to those who were on their watch list. Aurora expressed her concerns about the predictive justice scheme, but assured Carol that she was not the traitor – until Captain Marvel reminded her that she could move at superhuman speed and had another personality. As such, she might not even know she was a traitor.

When Aurora was told she would have to remain locked away until she was cleared, Aurora responded by punching Captain Marvel and warning her to get out of her way. When Sasquatch and Puck sided with Aurora, their teammate of many, many years, Captain Marvel placed them all under arrest, to the delight of Philippe Beaulieu. When Beaulieu arrived to calm the situation down, he sent Captain Marvel away on a mission, at which point he revealed to Alpha Flight that he was the leak. To make matters worse, he also revealed he was their old foe, the Master of the World, in a new body. To ensure they told no one, he broke through the hull of the Alpha Flight Space Station, sending Aurora, Sasquatch and Puck out into space to die. Fortunately for them, Captain Marvel had known this all along and promptly rescued them, after which she defeated the Master. Although Aurora and the others recovered, they felt betrayed by Captain Marvel. They had believed her to be their friend, but she had used them to flush out the Master. [Captain Marvel (9th series) #9-10]

Apparently due to her unhappiness at the way Carol betrayed her, Aurora left the Alpha Flight Space Station and was “loaned out” to NASA. [Mighty Captain Marvel #2] However, following the rebuild of the AFSS, Aurora returned for a brief time, so it seemed that she was being shared between AFSS and NASA. [Jessica Jones (2nd series) #14] When the mutant nation of Krakoa was established, Aurora apparently ended her association with both the Alpha Flight Space Program and NASA. She made her way to Krakoa, alongside her brother, Northstar. [X-Men (5th series) #2]

Aurora attended the huge welcome party hosted at the Green Lagoon tiki bar, before using one of the Krakoan gateway to Vancouver, where she spent a week staying at a motel outside of Bellingham in Washington. At some point, she became known to a man called Eddie Avidan, who had past-dealings with anti-mutant terrorist groups. Aurora was driving across the bridge above the Pudget Sound in Eddie's car when the brakes failed and Aurora, trapped in the car, plunged into the Sound and died. Thanks to the strange connection that twins share, Northstar “felt” Aurora die and, when the Five refused to resurrect her without a body, Northstar led a group of mutants to investigate what happened to Aurora and retrieve her body. They determined the cause of Aurora's death but were unable to ascertain why Aurora was in Bellingham for so long, or how she came to know Eddie Avidan. Additionally, as Eddie's car had struck Eddie when the brakes failed and had also sent him to his death in the Sound, they couldn't question him, either. Aurora's body was provided to the Five who fast-tracked her for resurrection. Aurora's disappearance and subsequent death led the Quiet Council to establish a new X-Factor Investigations team, with Northstar as its leader. [X-Factor (4th series) #1]

Resurrected, Aurora arrived at the Boneyard, which had been established as the home and headquarters of X-Factor Investigations. She was overwhelmed by the reception she received – from her brother, who was relieved to have her back, Polaris, who was offering friendship, Prodigy, who wanted to know more about Aurora's mysterious death, and Daken, who was clearly attempting to flirt with her. After screaming at everyone to hush, she explained that she needed time to come to terms with what had happened. However, she was not able to offer any further information about her death, as the last thing she remembered was being in Bellingham, apparently given the memory gaps common in the resurrection process. Northstar asked his sister to tell him why she was there – when she was ready, of course.

X-Factor Investigations soon departed for the Mojoverse on a new mission, so Aurora remained at the Boneyard. She babysat the warwolf pup, Amazing Baby, and kept herself occupied by watching her brother and his teammates on the television, which screened everything happening in Mojoworld, before being reunited with her brother-in-law, Kyle. Aurora eventually began to explore the Boneyard and was intrigued when she discovered Daken in the kitchen, cooking. Aurora learned that Daken had been thrown out of Mojorworld and was receptive to his flirtatious advances – until he asked her why she was hooking up with a guy in Bellingham. Unimpressed, Aurora fled from Daken. [X-Factor (4th series) #2-3]

During a party held at the Boneyard, Aurora initially mistook Daken and Polaris' interactions for flirting. She found Daken in his quarters, drawing pictures of her with charcoal on his walls. She seemed dubious at first, but admitted she knew Daken wasn't flirting with Polaris. Later at the party, Aurora was standing on top of the Boneyard, where Northstar found her and told her that he knew that she was keeping what happened in Bellingham to herself, but that he was there for her whenever she wanted to talk. Aurora recoiled from her brother when he reached out to touch her hand, concerned about what would happen. Northstar, however, pointed out that she was in a new body now, with all of the past genetic manipulations by Langkowski and Weapon X and others wiped away. Aurora took her brother's hand and they created a brilliant light across all of Krakoa. [X-Factor (4th series) #5]

Aurora soon joined X-Factor Investigations during the time the team was investigating Siryn's repeated deaths. She also began to struggle with her feelings for Daken and began to wonder if he was manipulating her feelings for him with his pheromone power. Daken, however, assured her that his powers didn't work that way – that they only enhance what was already there. Aurora seemed relieved by this and, before he left on an assignment to follow Siryn, asked Daken to kiss her. During this time, Aurora worked alongside her teammate Eye-Boy to question Krakoans with links to Siryn about her current state of mind. Aurora later found Daken recovering in some hot pools after he had been attacked and left for dead by Siryn, who was possessed by the Morrigan. Aurora told Daken that she missed him and they finally kissed. Aurora was later killed alongside Northstar in a ritualistic slaying by the Morrigan, who had taken over the Boneyard. Fortunately, she and Northstar were resurrected and worked with the rest of X-Factor to seemingly purge the Morrigan from Siryn. [X-Factor (4th series) #6-9]

With most of their dramas behind them, X-Factor were happy to attend the first Hellfire Gala, an extravagant party on Krakoa attended by Krakoans and guests from around the world alike. During the festivities, Aurora met Daken's sister, Laura, for the first time. As the night went on, Aurora bumped into Wild Child, who had crashed the Gala with his Hellions teammates. Wild Child asked Aurora to dance, but Aurora explained to him that when they were together she was at a confusing time in her life. She then walked away from him into the arms of Daken. This enraged Wild Child, who attempted to lash out at Daken, which started a brawl at the Gala.

As Aurora and Daken danced the night away, Aurora discovered that Daken knew more about her than she had thought – including that she was responsible for killing Eddie in Canada, and died while trying to cover it up. Daken revealed that he then killed Eddie's anti-mutant friends, implicating himself in the matter to keep Aurora safe. Most of the members of X-Factor Investigations left the Gala to assist their teammate Prodigy in confronting a man who previously murdered him. Aurora was particularly blunt in her feelings towards this man – which turned Daken on. [Hellfire Gala event]

Aurora later discovered Daken waiting in the Arbor Magna resurrection chamber for the resurrection of his past lover who had a brief fling with in the 1960s. Aurora listened as Daken recounted the tragic life of this man, and stayed with Daken to await the resurrection of Somnus. [Marvel's Voices: Pride #1]
