Whilst Wolverine’s fate remained a mystery, Old Man Logan’s fate was more worrying, as he was dying of adamantium poisoning. In his future, Mysterio had created an illusion that tricked him into slaughtering the X-Men, and now Logan was adamant he was going to prevent that from ever happening. After cutting a bloody path around New York looking for Mysterio, Jubilee had to come to Logan’s aid when the Avengers wanted to apprehend him.

Mysterio soon sought Logan out himself and explained that a group of villains led by Sin and Miss Sinister were trying to get him to create those events against his will. Jubilee teamed up with Logan, Mysterio and some others to break into Sin’s base to put an end to her plan. Afterwards, Logan revealed he was going to travel back to his future to live out his remaining days. Jubilee bid him goodbye and got a chance to say the things she wished she could have told her own Wolverine before he died. She needn’t have bothered, as Wolverine was soon revealed to be alive and well a short time later. [Dead Man Logan #1-6]

Jubilee and the X-Men soon went on high alert when Nate Grey (aka X-Man) tried to enforce world peace, whether people accepted it or not. Things took a strange turn when Legion attempted to fight Nate too, but instead was possessed by the telepath. Realizing that nobody was listening to him, Nate seemingly killed Jubilee along with most of the X-Men. [Uncanny X-Men (5th series) #1-10]

Whilst the world believed the X-Men dead, they were actually transported to a pocket reality, where their memories had been rewritten and everyone on Earth was a mutant. Personal relationships were banned by law, and Jubilee now worked for Department X, investigating reports of people who broke this rule. As well as completely rewriting her history, Jubilee also had no memory of Shogo, who was now in the care of Chamber back in the real world.

On one assignment for Department X, Jubilee had to apprehend two mutants named Luke and Nezumi, who had broken the relationship law and were now having a child together. Jubilee’s teammate Moneta sent Luke to be sentenced for his crimes, but locked Nezumi up in the team’s basement, as there hadn’t been a natural birth in years. When Jubilee discovered Nezumi in the basement, she was appalled at what Moneta was doing and attempted to protect the woman. X-Man’s grip on the reality began to waver, allowing the memories he suppressed to return. When Nezumi gave birth, Jubilee was suddenly flooded with memories of Shogo upon looking at the newborn baby. Realizing that the world around her wasn’t real, she went on a rampage, supported by the other members of her department who were also beginning to regain their lost memories. In the end, X-Man expelled everyone from the pocket reality, allowing Jubilee to be reunited with her son again. [Age of X-Men: X-Tremists #1-5]

Soon after, the mutant race’s world would change forever when Professor X and Magneto set up a mutant haven on the island of Krakoa. One of the many wonders that this new nation offered was the ability to resurrect any dead mutant, thanks to the combined efforts of five mutants. Jubilee was soon reunited with her former friends Synch and Skin, as well as many other mutants who had died tragically over the years. [House of X #6]

One of the other wonders of Krakoa was the biological gateways that allowed mutants to teleport across Earth, as well as to distant worlds. Apocalypse was experimenting with mutant magic and, when Betsy and Brian Braddock went missing in Otherworld, he assembled a team (including Jubilee) to investigate. Betsy was saved, having taken on the mantle of Captain Britain for herself, but trouble was brewing on Otherworld and the team needed to get there. Jubilee left Shogo on Krakoa as she went with the group, but it took longer than anticipated and she began to miss her son. Whilst the rest of the team were resting, Jubilee travelled through one of the gateways and retrieved Shogo from Krakoa, with the intention she would take him back before they travelled further. However, when they came under attack, Jubilee was forced to flee with the rest of the team to Otherworld, taking Shogo with her.

Much to her surprise, when they appeared on Otherworld, Shogo had transformed into an enormous, blue dragon. Jubilee was beside herself with worry and confusion, but Betsy explained that the magical rules of Otherworld were very different to Earth, and Shogo must have transformed into a form out of protection. Shogo’s new-found abilities came in very handy for the team as he could now fly them across the realm, but Jubilee remained worried as he was a very large target for their foes. The team found Brian in a castle, under the influence of the villainous Morgan le Fey, but they were quickly overwhelmed when they tried to attack it.

Jubilee made Shogo stay out the fight but was forced to call for his aid when they had no choice. In his dragon form, Shogo was able to breath fire, but the team quickly learned that the flames he produced could burn through the walls between realities. As Morgan le Fey’s forces retreated in fear, Jubilee and the group fled back to Krakoa, where Shogo immediately transformed back into a baby again, much to his mother’s relief. [Excalibur (4th series) #1-3]

Even though Apocalypse had created the rag-tag group, he seemed to be keeping many secrets to himself, and was delighted when he discovered Shogo could breathe Dragonfire. Jubilee was immediately concerned at the interest the ancient mutant had taken in Shogo and warned him off going anywhere near the child. [Excalibur (4th series) #5]

Jubilee began to struggle with Shogo, as he wanted to spend more and more time in Otherworld, where he could be in his dragon form. When a mission to hunt some Warwolves came up, she jumped at the chance to have a break from a dragon-toddler, however things turned deadly very quickly. The Warwolves were in the possession of Cullen Bloodstone, and he wouldn’t let them go unless Jubilee and the rest of Excalibur hunted them in a competition. Naturally, Cullen double-crossed them, as he wanted to hunt some mutants for himself. Jubilee found herself fighting for her life against Cullen and the Warwolves, but Excalibur prevailed. [Excalibur (4th series) #7-8]

The ruler of Otherworld, Saturnyne, was becoming weary of Excalibur and the mutant race extending their reach into her realm, so she decided to fight back. When Jubilee and the team travelled there again, Saturnyne had Shogo shot out of the sky whilst in his dragon form. As her injured son fell to the ground, Jubilee unleashed an enormous display of her powers on Saturnyne’s forces, wiping them out. Pushing her powers so far was exhausting, and Jubilee was captured by some of Saturnyne’s more benevolent soldiers, the Green Priestesses. When Jubilee regained consciousness, she found herself imprisoned, which prompted her to use her powers to try and break from, to no avail. The rest of Excalibur soon caught up and called a truce with the priestesses, allowing an upset Jubilee to be reunited with her injured son. Shogo was too weak to travel and so Jubilee stayed with the priestesses as they looked after him, whilst the rest of Excalibur confronted Saturnyne. [Excalibur (4th series) #9, 11]

Whilst Jubilee waited with the priestesses, the situation at Saturnyne’s citadel took an unexpected turn. When the forces of Arakko, a “sibling” to Krakoa, decided to use Otherworld as a way to get to Earth, Saturnyne had the mutants of both realms fight against each other in a competition. Betsy was forced to duel a warrior from Arakko but, before she did, she telepathically reached out to Jubilee to inform her of the situation. Betsy was later killed in the duel, but Jubilee remained unaware and the sudden communication silence concerned her. Taking Shogo, she flew to the citadel and was ready to lay siege to it, but she was surprised to see the X-Men there. Saturnyne wasn’t happy about the interruption, or the fact Shogo’s flames could burn a hole in reality. Using her magics, she mind-controlled Shogo, causing him to go to her side, throwing Jubilee off his back in the process. Jubilee was powerless to stop Saturnyne using Shogo as her personal weapon of war, having him burn through the walls of reality for her own benefit. After a great battle, a peace settled over the area and Saturnyne let Shogo go back to a relieved Jubilee. [X of Swords crossover]

Jubilee and Excalibur were kept busy over the next few weeks with finding a way to resurrect Betsy, as well as dealing with a brewing war in Otherworld. Jubilee reluctantly let Shogo spend more time in Otherworld so he could be in his dragon form but, after a talk with Roma, she began to realize that the magical world may be where her son’s destiny lay. For now, though, she chose to be selfish and keep him with her as long as possible. Jubilee and the team next found themselves fighting alongside Saturnyne against the villainous Merlin and King Arthur, who wanted to take over the realm and rid it of mutants. [Excalibur (4th series) #16-26]

The situation in Otherworld turned dire, forcing Excalibur to flee back to Krakoa, whilst leaving Betsy behind. Shogo reacted badly to the sudden change, and he fell into a seemingly endless sleep, concerning Jubilee greatly. None of the doctors on Krakoa could find anything physically wrong with him but, when Betsy returned, she scanned his mind and discovered he was dreaming of Otherworld. Betsy needed ten champions to return to Otherworld and fight Merlin’s forces, for which Jubilee volunteered in the hopes she could speak to the mystics of the realm and find a cure for Shogo. However, after casting a spell to take them to Otherworld, Excalibur discovered Shogo had successfully travelled with them, while Jubilee had remained behind on Krakoa. When Betsy made telepathic contact with Krakoa, Jubilee spoke with her and begged her to keep Shogo safe. Betsy did just that and left him with Roma, although it turned out he ended up on his own quest whilst the others took on Merlin’s forces. Jubilee was reunited with him soon enough when Betsy opened up a portal to Krakoa so the mutants of Earth could help win the war with Merlin. In the aftermath, Jubilee discovered Shogo’s yearning for Otherworld was over with, as his own journey had taught him how to be brave. [Knights of X #1-5]
