Iolanthe (Atkinson, Katie)

First appearance: X-Men Unlimited (2nd series) #10

Powers: Fairy Wings/Flight

Notes:

  • Likely depowered in M-Day. Fate unknown.
  • Iolanthe was an opera by Gilbert and Sullivan. It's about a fairy who is exiled for marrying a mortal.
  • Katie was involved in a love triangle with a boy called Jeb and her emotional friend Lipid.

Keratin (Finn, Dave)

Kid Omega (Quentin Quire)

First appearance: New X-Men (1st series) #134

Powers: advanced cognitive and telepathic abilities enable him to organize and construct his thoughts at accelerated rates, overtly or covertly manipulate the minds of others, resist mind probes, and disable other forms of psychic manipulation, telekinetic powers of levitation, force projection, and conjuring psychic constructs and weapons that physically or mentally assault opponents

Notes:

  • Quentin formed a group called the Omega Gang, angered or inspired from death of prominent mutant fashion designer, Jumbo Carnation. Around the same, he also found out he was adopted. Both events inspired a more radical identity for him. He was also abusing the drug Kick as well.
  • His team was defeated and he was personaly downed by his rivals the Stepford Cuckoos, Quentin underwent a physical transformation as the next stage in his evolution. This left him a disembodied psychic entity that was contained in Henry McCoy’s laboratory. [New X-Men (1st series) #138]
  • Quentin Quire resumed a physical form and attempted to use the Phoenix Force to resurrect his lost “love," Sophie. This plan ultimately failed and Quentin returned to his non-physical state. [X-Men Phoenix: Endsong #1-5]
  • He resurfaced during Schism and later joined the Jean Grey School for Gifted Youngsters, where he remained in an antagonistic role to Wolverine and other members of the faculty and student body.
  • Given his difficult personality, he was temporarily assigned to a special class run by Jubilee in Generation X (2nd series).
  • In Mighty Thor (3rd series) #19, he had a team up with Thor (Jane Foster), culminating in him briefly becoming a new god for the Shi'ar Empire.
  • He dabbled in reality TV in West Coast Avengers (3rd series) in which he also served as a member of the new group.
  • The clue is in the name, Kid Omega is an Omega Class Mutant.
  • He has had a failed romance with Oya (Generation Hope), Gwenpool and a different Stepford Cuckoo, Phoebe.
  • He joined Krakoa's answer to the FBI in X-Force (6th series).

King, Sharon

First Appearance: She-Hulk (3rd Series) #2

Powers: Depowered, formerly limited weather control.

Notes:

  • Introduced in She-Hulk (3rd Series) #2 as her new landlady. She claimed she was a former student of the Xavier Institute who lost her powers in M-Day. She said that she had the power to control the weather but that she was power level was substantially lower than Storm, calling herself jokingly “drizzle”.

Lipid (Moore, Anne)

First appearance: X-Men Unlimited (2nd series) #10

Powers: produces projectile sticky liquid from her eyes

  • Real name revealed in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z #13.
  • Likely depowered in M-Day. Fate unknown.
  • She was a very emotional sophomore whom Beast met when he was the guidance counsellor and noticed her fighting with another student Iolanthe. When he spoke to her, suffice to say she had a lot on her mind. She was feuding with her friend Iolanthe as she had a crush on a boy called Jeb, whom Iolanthe had told that Lipid hated. Her parents were getting a divorced. To top it off, she couldn't control her powers and she was drenching her shared room, because she couldn't stop crying.

Longneck (Hannover, William)

First appearance: New X-Men (1st series) #140

Powers: slightly longer than normal neck

Notes:

  • Longneck was another of the background students who joined Cyclops in opposing Xorn’s rampage in New York City. [New X-Men (1st series) #149-150]
  • Longneck’s codename was never revealed in his actual appearances but appeared in The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Teams 2005.
  • Real name revealed in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z #13.

Mentat (Zepheniah, Robert)

  • Likely depowered in M-Day. Fate unknown.
  • Protozoa was being relentlessly bullied by his classmate Cudgel. He seemed to be confiding in the guidance counselor, Ms. Downing, and was dismayed when she suddenly resigned. Beast temporarily took over her role and Protozoa eventually reached out to him, though he did not disclose the bullying.
  • He noted he was a big fan of science fiction novels.

Radian (Cord, Christian)

First appearance: New X-Men (1st series) #126

Powers: Formerly discharges a uni-directional flash of light from his body, blinding anyone he chooses to affect

Notes:

  • Radian was sent to a human jail in New X-Men (1st series) #138 to atone for the crimes he committed as a member of the Omega Gang.
  • He was depowered during M-Day and joined an incarnation of the New Warriors featuring various other depowered mutants using stolen tech. In his case, it was Turbo kit. He took the name Phaser as his superhero name.
  • His sister, Tattoo, also formerly of the Omega Gang, joined the New Warriors but died in combat against the Zodiac in New Warriors (4th series) #4.
  • He had the unique distinction as being the only former member of the Omega Gang to survive the New Warriors (4th series).
  • His whereaubouts are unknown. As a formerly proud mutant, he may have undergone Crucible to restore his powers during the Krakoan age.

Redneck (Stewart, Vincent)

First appearance: New X-Men (1st series) #126

Powers: Formerly generates intense levels of thermal energy from his lower arms, superheating them so that his hands can burn or melt anything he touches

Notes:

  • Redneck was sent to a human jail in New X-Men (1st series) #138 to atone for the crimes he committed as a member of the Omega Gang.
  • He was depowered during M-Day and joined an incarnation of the New Warriors featuring various other depowered mutants using stolen villain tech. In his case, it was Beetle kit. He took the name Skybolt as his superhero name.
  • He died in an explosion in New Warriors (4th series) #16. He would be a candidate for resurrection but it is unconfirmed if this took place.
